    Cramped Abs?

Ive got 295 bench, 355 squat and 445 dl for 3rm.....so I know my core is at least somewhat strong but after only maybe 15 or 20 reps on abs with full contraction they cramp HARD. Sodium and carbs are high enough, although I am at a 15% caloric deficit for the last 4 weeks....any ideas guys?

my water intake is always pretty high.....not excessive, but i would say its close to 1.5 gallons a day. I know its not the burn of the exercise....before I lifted when i was a basketball player we did abs for 40 minutes at a time. But now after workouts i get a full contraction for 15 or so reps and i cramp up so hard that I have to stretch them out immediately. its like someone stabbed me with a knife in the gut and twisted.

Are abs something you usually train? I'm sure your core is strong but if you don't regularly do full contractions like you are now, there will be cramping. You're just not used to doing them. It'll pass.

I would have said water too but 1.5 gallons is a lot. Sometimes when I take certain suppliments I get that feeling... fat burners, ephedrine, preworkouts... especially if you mix them together.

1.5 ****ing gallons? Are you sure?

I worked construction in 100+ degree weather for 5 straight years and those were the only days where I drank a gallon or exceeded it. Those were 9.5-10 hour shifts, too.

Measure your water bro! Make sure.

You need more than just sodium for cramps. Potassium and calcium are vital in muscle contraction too. All three are used very heavily during muscle contraction. Try adding more potassium. Get some bananas or apricots. Or even simple supplement pills from a pharmacy.

I havent been strictly measuring it, but for example I went through 5 24 oz bottle of water and 2 quarts of crystal light without even noticing it the other day. I am always pissin' clear haha. But could be truth bro
