It just showed up from the last batch they had manufactured. There aren't going to be any more available for at least a few months. The next release will likely be the 1.0.

They just announced on the 1st that KDE Plasma Mobile will be the official OS. I've got it installed and it is barely usable with tons of bugs. Nothing is optimized for the hardware so everything is slow as chit.

It'll likely be a few years combined with another hardware release before it starts truly mogging all other phones.

I'm optimistic as it's basically a Raspberry Pi 3, and I don't see that ecosystem going away any time soon. It won't be a mainstream device, but the fact it comes with a USB-C dongle with HDMI out and an ethernet port means it will always have people with money interested. After all, Pine64 has been able to sell out of every product they have released.

I also don't understand the drop in Linux desktop usage, it is so much better than Windows 10. Desktop Linux is by far the best user experience (after 1-2 months of learning). I don't understand how people accept advertising and data harvesting as part of an OS.

I was rocking ArchLinux for a while running i3 but that's on hardcore mode for most folks.

Who the hell wants to do that though? I play games and Linux support for games is weak. Besides I look at a dumb terminal all week at work I want my pretty, easy and intuitive GUI when I’m relaxing at home.

If you HAVE or run Windows, fine. Run a version in a virtual machine. But running Linux or BSD stuff on a Windows host is just backward for so many reasons.
