id get the 6 or laser strike. izula is ok but for the price of it you could get something like a becker BK2 since you want a larger knife. Also look at the Ontario RAK ranger that i posted earlier in this thread. The laser strike is really similar to it almost to the point of me considering it a knock off. Its much cheaper, just as nice and I use it while my esee's sit for the most part just because of the cost.

-Does anyone have experience with ZT (zero tolerance) products? They got some cool designs and half decent steel. Quite overpriced though
-How the hell do you sharpen a recurve design blade? (plain edge)
I just can't seem to sharpen my knifes at all, I've practiced a lot and watched vids on it, but DAMNIT I can't get it. Perhaps I should get a sharpermaker with it's cylindrical stones (I think those are, or triangular shaped) instead of the flat style that I'm using (with guide rods).
Also. I may have just lost my 2nd half decent knife. SOG seal pup and SOG vulcan. Damn things seem to vanish into the abyss.

I own 2 ZT blades, a 200 and a 350. They have thick liners and are incredibly well built for a non custom. The tolerance on the lockup and the durability of the finish are really solid. I don't think they are overpriced unless you pay retail.
I wish I could sharpen a knife, I also can't get the hang of it for some reason. The recurve are really difficult it seems.

The 5 is a monster bro. Something like 1/4" thick. Pretty much a splitting maul with a cutting edge. Id imagine it to be pretty heavy.
I ordered an Esee 4 today to accompany my Izula II. The zula will handle my small tasks and skinning and the 4 to do batoning and larger bushcraft stuff."I believe that life isn't worth living if not lived passionately." - Nainoa

just purchased a kershaw leek. Easily the best knife that I ever owned. I hate having things in my pockets so I was looking for a knife that was thin and lightweight. I can't even tell that this is in my pocket.

The 5 is a beast. If I had to take one knife with me into an unknown scenario, it would be the 5, although it wouldn't be the best bush knife...not bad, but not the best. The 4 is also great and a better bush knife. It's a great length for most things you'd need it for and feels good in the hands. The Izula II is an awesome EDC and good skinner. Not the best for the bush because it's a little short for batoning and definitelly not a chopper. Great for making arrows or spears though, but so is the 4.
I own most of the ESEE line, here's how I'd break it down:
Izula 1 or 2- EDC, hunting
ESEE 3 or 4 - Bush, Hunting
ESEE 5 - Urban Survival, Bush, Defense, Big game (with careful use)
ESEE 6 - Bush, Hunting, defense
Junglas - Bush, Defense, clearing land, Jungle, Zombies
edit: Just saw you got the Izula II. congrats.***Misc Survivalist Crew***
