A local called police who arrived around 9.10am and shot Aoussaoui 14 times as he screamed 'Allahu Akbar' - God is greatest in Arabic - a phrase he kept shouting even after being sedated and put into an ambulance, Nice's Mayor Christian Estrosi said.

Aoussaoui had arrived in Nice at around 6.30am via the railway station, where he quickly changed his clothes, French prosecutor Jean-Francois Ricard told journalists yesterday. CCTV then showed him arriving in the church at 8.30am and staying there for nearly half an hour.

Counter-terrorism police last night arrested a 47-year-old man in Nice on suspicion of being an accomplice to the knifeman and providing him with one of two mobile phones that the attacker was found with.

The man is believed to have been in close contact with the 21-year-old jihadist on Wednesday, the day before the attack, police sources told French media.

Fellow migrants who had travelled to Europe with Aoussaoui told how he was constantly on the phone while interned on a coronavirus quarantine ship after arriving in Italy in September. There are plenty of Muslims who are relieved to escape murderous theocracies in Africa and the Middle East and live in places like France. I have plenty of secular and/or "reform" Islamic friends (some of whom post on this forum) who love the west, and are frankly better at defending its values than most natives.

But imagine you come to the west, a place you've been told has unlimited opportunity and freedom, as a young Muslim man. You arrive and see rampant homosexuality, blatant societal addiction to alcohol and drugs and technology, discrimination towards men in every imaginable sphere (law, work, school, etc.), and you struggle to achieve the success you've been told is available to everyone because you are a low-skilled individual who is maybe average or below average on the IQ scale. All of these things you've been brought up being told are completely haram are shoved in your face daily and if you try to push back on literally any of them even an inch you are canceled and completely invalidated as a person in society. Meanwhile the native culture goes around self-flagellating for "imperialism" and the Crusades which happened literal centuries ago.

I'd expect hearing the Imam or Mullah or whomever preaching about the imminent downfall of the west and the need for Islamic men to rise up would probably strike a chord with you.

No attempt to justify being a ******* terrorist, simply trying to say that the west has completely lost its cultural confidence so it's no surprise young men are brought into these extremist circles which tell them the only way to truly live a good life is by and through an extremist interpretation of Islam.

I agree that there are many muslims who do not condone terrorist attacks, however, based on my experience as an ex-muslim and research, many muslims try to create or are part of 'ethnoreligious ghettos'. They purposefully try to create communities that are distinct (linguistically and culturally) from the national culture. Any muslims who see no problem with those ethnoreligious ghettos are IMO part of the problem, because they are huge blocks to assimilation.

One big problem is too many muslims IME are in denial about the problems. Even when they strongly condemn terrorism or ethnoreligious ghettos, they don't seem to realize the extent of the problem.

This is the kind of thing that goes on here Europe regarding the forming of ethnoreligious ghettos, and I strongly advise watching all parts...



Westernization and assimilation becomes a lot harder, when ethnoreligious ghettos are allowed to form without objection from muslims or non muslims.

Also, something that I've learned is that 'shame management' is a large part of what fuels violence. Books from James Gillian and Jonathan Fast compile research into the link between shame and violence. When we feel humiliated, disrespected, or shamed for our individual or social identity (e.g. being a muslim, being white, being black, etc) we can manage that shame in benign or aggressive ways. Muslim communities have a long history of being very bad at teaching healthy shame management, hence things like honour killings, terrorists attacks - aggression/violence is unfortunately taught as a good way of managing a sense of humiliation and disrespect.

To my knowledge, they didn't have a specific campaign to promote publishing cartoons of Muhammad, however they support the general right to satire/freedom of speech (not absolutely of course).

I don't believe that the 'elite' in France generally care about society, but IMO the good intentioned people in government are only now realizing the multiculturalism doesn't work, and there needs to be a dominant culture that is adopted by the masses, in order to unite communities. Bringing in people who don't even speak the native language is obviously a huge barrier to assimilation, which is something that is considered taboo to talk about.
