Depends on your definition of "low carb diet", or how low you are going. Unless your are doing Keto, you will need some carbs, preferably around your workout. Oats would be a good choice, but again only if they fit the macro needs of your diet.
When your asking for help or input, try to be a little more revealing, and you will get more feedback. What does your diet look like, and what are your goals of said diet?To whom much is given, much is expected.
Victory is reserved for those willing to pay its price.

Good answer. More specifics are needed to answer the question. If you are on a Keto type diet in which you want to go into a state of ketosis, the answer is a definite NO. The carbs from oatmeal will probably prevent you from entering and maintaining Ketosis. However, if you merely want to ingest healthy carbs in the form of vegetables, fruits and whole grain products, the answer is yes.

^^^this. I haven't gone to steel cut yet, but changed to 'old fashioned' plain and I swear it's more filling and 'sticks with you longer.' A lady at my work followed my lead and she says the same thing; I do know the oats swell up better, but you just have to give it about 5 minutes to do so after you add your hot water.
