    The Race to a Six-Plate Deadlift

    This will take well over a year - perhaps years - but this log will show what dedication and hard work can do. This will be just like any other log, but will only be about deadlifts.

    Welcome to our journey.

    The rules:
    -If you deadlift, you post.
    -If you think about deadlifting, you post.
    -If you are planning an awesome PR, you bring a camera.
    -If you fail a deadlift, you post.
    -If you win, you don't really win. Keep posting.
    -We will try to arrange for insane mod reps for winners.
    -Monetary prizes can be discussed at a later point in time.
    -For your six-plate deadlift, you may only use a belt, gloves and chalk. NO STRAPS.
    -Sumo deadlifts allowed.
    -Since this contest includes people with varying deadlift strength, we will judge a winner in the "most progress" category, the "strongest" category, and the "relatively strongest" category (using the Wilk's Coefficient: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wilks_Coefficient).

    Thinking about deadlifts:

    I pulled 425 on April 25, and I'm not sure it's gone up at all in the past month. Next Tuesday, I am going to give it my all again and see if I can pull 450 (a 6% increase).

    im glad to see im in on this competition without ever giving my own consent lmao

    a few things:
    1) sumos allowed?
    2) Equipment wise- I suggest belt and chalk only no straps but its up to what everyone agrees upon.
    3) Side competition for Trap Bar dead lift? it is a dead lift after all. Weight suggestions for the race with a TB dead? 7 plates?

    whoever is in on this discuss these 3 matters por favor.

    Im in!! Im at 230x3 currently right now. No vid though. I just love deadlifting and love progress! My dead 6 weeks ago was 165x3, so im seeing progress. I dont expect 6 plates per anytime soon but wut the heck!

    I'm signing up at an LA fitness when I get to Florida. The chalk sock is nice because it doesn't get all over the place. Just buy it and bring it and no one will comment.

    I'm telling you, the thing is awesome. It doesn't leave any chalk on the ground, and at worst you get a cloud of chalk particles that require you told your breath.

    Yess, thanks for the support.

    My 500 was raw mans raw. No belt, no gloves, no straps, double overhand hook grip, not even any chalk. First time I locked it out and the bar literally fell to the floor. Regrouped, and hit it 5 min later.

    Gonna need some major grip work to hold six hundo though...that's for certain.

    As far as the rules, I agree so far, but the Sumo should compete against other sumo. The vast majority of big pullers use conventional around here (or so it seems).

    I think chalk, belt and gloves (if you're a weenie) are fine.
