Also, I saw Jen Psaki today on Michigan avenue in Chicago. She was by herself coffee in hand in a business suit across the street coming toward me. I couldn’t remember where I recognized her from at first but she looked familiar. As Soon I was passed by a few steps I turned and said Jen like you would if you knew someone. Personal choice obviously but yes probably a good idea. From people I’ve known that have had shingles it is unpleasant, much worse and more painful than chickenpox despite being caused by the same virus.

As far as I know it is effective, even back when the definition of a vaccine meant it prevented a disease.

I had it a few years ago and yeah, feels totally different from chickenpox. I remember chickenpox being mostly itchy but not really painful. Shingles caused me to break out in huge blisters that ran from the center of my chest around to the center of my back (it just followed the path of the spinal nerve that was infected). It didn't itch, but felt like somebody took a blow torch to that whole area. Any time my shirt rubbed against it, I would get intense sharp pains where it made contact. That phase lasted a couple of weeks. After the blisters healed, I had numbness in that area for about 6 months (neuralgia). So yeah, it sucked -- getting the vaccine is not a bad idea.

Yeah, that is what I thought too and why I started the meds too late. It started out as a small rash, and all of my googling kept pointing to shingles, but I dismissed it because I figured I was way too young for that. It was only after it had grown significantly that I finally accepted the possibility that it could be shingles and went to the doctor. By that time, the antivirals were pretty ineffective because they really only work if you start them early. Later I found out that my brother had shingles in his 30's, so maybe we are just genetically susceptible.

That’s awful, a guy I work with had them on his legs and ass, couldn’t sit down for over a month. Said he could barely sleep the entire time due to pain/annoyance.

It’s basically a 40B line of credit that will be used to buy arms such as javelins from Lockheed-Martin, Raytheon, and whatever other DoD contractors. This isn’t the same as just giving 40B in cash that can just be disappeared.

So sure it's a handout to the Empire's war machine but it’s cheaper to arm Ukraine than fight Russia in Poland. We’ve been doing this proxy war thing pretty steady since well, forever.
