I'm taking GNC 100% Whey Protein, chocolate flavor, and I have been mixing it in milk, and drinking it once a day on average, over the last month and a half. (it tastes really good, and adding it to milk has made it really creamy, so it's been no effort to keep taking it)
About two weeks ago, I started noticing little red skin blemishes on the inside of my right thigh. In the last week I've noticed a few small skin blemishes on my arms and chest, and the area on my right thigh has become alot more effected by the spreading of the rash.
I'm only assuming it's the supplement, since I am not eating anything new or unusual. I added a teaspoon of Creatine Monohydrate a week ago, and have taken 4 spoons of that in the last week, but the rashes appeared before I started taking it. I am not sure if that is somehow making things worse.
Bottom line is that I've stopped taking everything, but I am asking here if anyone has heard of a supplement causing such an effect, and if there is a way to eliminate that from occuring.
Thank you in advance!

I know I am not lactose-intolerant, I've never had a problem with that. And currently the only time I drink milk is when I add the supplement to it. It's usually one 12oz cup on off-days, two on workout days, and some days I just don't take it.
I am going to stop taking it for a couple weeks, and see if this all goes away. If it does, I will probably only take one cup after I work out, and no more. We'll see how that goes.
Thank you everyone!--- Nick ---

Creatine allergy (rash)
I've been drinking ON Whey protein for a couple of years now with no undesirable side effects. However, I had an allergic reaction caused by Micronized Creatine Monohydrate -- I developed a rash (not hives) all over my body. I only noticed the rash about 8 to 10 hours after taking Optimum Micronized Creatine Monohydrate powder. I didn't notice sooner because I took the Creatine in the evening--2 hrs before my workout--a fews hours before going to bed. I didn't read the dosage carefully; i took more than 20g the first time i mixed it in with the ON Whey protein drink. I had an incredible workout two hours after taking the Creatine, but the itchy rash i developed hours later was horrible! I spent the following day drinking water and taking antihistamines to keep the rash under control.

ahh i used to get rashes really bad. no its not from protein, mine was because i would get really hot and sweat, my clothes and actually even underwear would chafe my legs or shoulders and id get some too. Try to get some better workout clothes, i know underarmour and C9 (sold at target, very very cheap off brand underarmour), i use them both and they dont ever give me rashes. just try some good workout clothes when you lift

I have been dealing with a rash on my legs/chest and arms for the last couple of weeks. Been to a dermatologist who took tests to see if i was allergic to anything environmental or any common chemicals (from soap/detergent etc..) and all the tests came back negative.
I think I am going to stop using Whey for a week or two and see if the reaction goes away. I do use 3 different Whey proteins (depending on the day), so hopefully it may just be a reaction to one of them

I know I am replying to old thread.. I used to have 2 tablespoons of 100% Whey protein once a day in the morning and after a month or so, I had the rashes on my thighs, back and they were itchy. I stopped the protein and it took like a month for the itchy rashes to completely disappear. I am not lactose intolerant. In fact, I do consume different dairy products. It takes time for these rashes to appear and then disappear.

Any alternative
The same thing happened to me recently. Was taking protein in the summer and a rash broke out. I thought it was ring worm from doing Jiu Jitsu and thought I picked it up from the mats. Went to the Dr. and they just gave me anti fungal cream. Then changed my diet to get rid of the rash also. But then I took a break from using protein and doing Jiu Jitsu because of a injury. But still keep hitting the weights after the rash had gone and nothing came back. Just recently started taking whey protein again and the rash is coming back which leads me to believe it is from taking the whey protein. Does anyone know of an alternative so I could still consume enough protein to build muscle? Not lactose Intolerant and took whey protein years ago with no side effects. But now it's not agreeing with my body. Thank you!

Same thing
I've Been Experiencing This Same Issue. Taking ON Natural Whey And ON Natural Casein. Went To The Dr And Said It Was An Allergic Reaction, Got Medecine But Its Coming Back. Have Taken Allmax Isoflex Before With No Problem.
My first inclination is to be nice, woe to the person who inspires me to go with my second - To get my way period.

I've been having a similar experience. Developed a rash that kept getting more pronounced as time went along. Got so bad I couldn't sleep and quit going to the gym. Rash went away. Started taking whey again and returned to the gym where symptoms recurred. Going to dermatologist tomorrow, but from my research, the rash is whats called food intolerance. Symptoms appear gradually over time unlike allergies which symptomology becomes apparent in 30min-two hrs after ingestion. A deficiency in the enzyme lactate my make it difficult for your body to metabolize lactose (the natural sugar in milk). Whey ISOLATE may improve your rash as it contains NO sugars. Whey concentrate does.

whey protein is the cause for me
Whey protein is the cause for my case.. well but it doesnt affect to everyone. We are 3 friends, take the same nitro tech whey protein two of us have developed rashes after the use but one of my friend has not . Rashes were too severe and I had many sleepless nights due to them and blamed on many things like lacto intolerant, bed bugs........ n on. Went to doc he said it's allergic reaction but with whey he can't confirm.... I stopped taking whey and in a month or so back to normal. I am a vegetarian and would prefer to take protein powder over eating broccoli and soya everyday. So I went to GNC for asking them is there any way to find out which protein will suit my body, but even they had no clue. But he confirmed people do complaint about rashes after taking whey. They also gave a suggestion to try whey protein which are given to cancer patients. As this patients have very low immune after the chemo therapy and all , they take this special whey proteins. Google it and try to find some relevant info. If any one else can provide a better way do post. Thnx

An isolate might work for you. It sounds like you have a lactose issue.
