    Wont lose any weight

    Hey Guys

Trying to help one of my friends out. not so long he dropped 44 pounds in 2 month. I told him it wasn't healthy. Now he wants to drop more, but healthy, safely and a more normal weight loss. He works out and all that, and he says he's in a a deficit of 1000kcal, which is still alot, but he says he havent dropped more than 3 pounds the last couple of months. My answer to him was that he has completely screwed up his metabolism. Is that correct? how does he fix this? How does he go back to actually losing weight agian?

    No that's not correct.

The correct answer is he's NOT actually in a 1000 cal deficit.

    He needs to eat less.

44 pounds in 2 months... is that a mistake?

A deficit of 1000 calories would produce 2lbs (of fat) lost per week.

A deficit of 1000 cals is probably more than what he should be cutting but he obviously is not cutting that much. When is the last time he calculated his TDEE? TDEE will change quite a bit when you lose that much weight. People make to big of a deal about metabolism.

No need to go through a TDEE calculation - which will just be an estimate anyway.

Whatever he's been eating for the last couple months - is roughly his maintenance (maybe a 100 cal/daily deficit if he's lost 3 lbs - though that could just as easily be water fluctuations).

He needs to cut another 250-300 calories per day out of his diet.

If very obese that would be a possible loss (including water weight).
Short cuts to success are often paved with lies.
