Not going to comment on SJWware and how the story might play out, but looking at the video and just based on that, it looks pretty fun to play and I'm a bit more hopeful for the combat.






The "look" though ... I dont know if it's a Bioware thing or a Frostbite thing ... But this game literally LOOKS like Dragon Age inquisition in space. Is it the art style? but Dragon Age and Mass Effect previous gen had two completely different looks about them. Maybe it's the lack of the film grain filter that the previous ME games had.

Couldnt you control any of the character in DA:I? As far as I can tell its still mass effect player control, meaning you can only pick abilities to use for them, not fully control...or did I miss that in the gameplay video?

I really want to hear more about the storyline, thats what concerns me the most...its the not knowing.

Like I said, preference. I've never cared much for the romances in these games, but it's 100+ hours of a gameplay which makes it preferable to look at this:

It's just aesthetics, like wanting better graphics than worse. Sure, graphics aren't everything, but it's better to have them. It doesn't make sense to argue for worse.

Only minor complaint is they still don't seem to have the ragdoll physics quite down (but who does?) and I feel like some of the characters look a bit stiff when running, which could improve before it goes gold. Otherwise looks awesome, will buy and play.

ehh Since Inquisition I can understand why people would have any concerns about the characters looks lol ... Inquisition had some butt ugly characters/squad mates and the mocap/facial animations for them didnt help at all.


Sera was a horrid character and even worse looking
The Indian looking chick in charge of diplomacy had a lot of potential but she looked like some goof used the character creator
The short haired chick was pretty, but I personally dont like short hair on women

And those were the only females you could romance IIRC (well there was the Dwarf scout, but that felt wrong lol) when you had pretty hot characters in the form of Leliana, the black chick with that old ass husband lel and most likely a couple others.

The male characters all looked great however, but Iron Bull looked like the romanticized version of Qunari, in the sense he was pretty hnngh no homo, which was strange because all the other Qunari had a very beastly look to them despite being humanoid. If you were playing a ****gy or female character, the choices were much "better" compared to playing a straight dude srs... But that's another discussion.

Personally I think there should be a mix of good looking / average / ugly so it feels more realistic ... I think Dragon Age 2 did this rather well with your squad mates.


As far as Andromeda goes, it still suffers from the same bad animations and facial mocap which is a bioware staple at this point ... Come to think of it, I dont think I've even seen all the squad mates lol. From the couple I've seen they look really generic and vanilla. Except for Peabee, but she's an Asari with autism, so it'd be in bad taste to say anything about her appearance.

Gameplay was never somomething I was worried about. If it's anything like ME3 then it will be great. I just hope the higher difficulties has some depth to it, not just throwing more enemies at you with larger health bars and sht. The story, exploration and characters are what worry me. But if anything I think it will all come down to the side quests. If we've learned anything from the Witcher 3 is that quality and interesting side quests is what will separate the good games from the legendary ones.

Agreed, the gameplay looks very well executed, even the "space magic" looking effects. I positively love the jump jet strafing implementation the most because after playing Shadow Warrior 2, it's hard not having a quick dash-type function.

The only thing I'd like to see for the final release is the weapons have a bit more of a punch to their sound and effect; the Milky Way projectile weapons sounded like nerf guns and the energy weapons a touch too "pew pew" at times.

I haven't played the first Mass Effect games or DA:I, but I'd be fine if they completely omitted the romance from these games completely and put the attention to every other choice and conversation in the game. So from that perspective, the characters in Andromeda look like the 3D equivalent of an amateur artist trying to draw a face and botching it.

Regardless, gameplay is my #1 interest, and I would prefer they don't keep it too linear and empty in the worlds you explore. The general impression of the direction they're taking the dialogue choices sounds better (agree/disagree vs paragon/dickhead), so (hopefully) you won't be boxed into space Mother Teresa vs space Hitler or something.

Hopefully playing this in 1440p with 60+ fps will make me forget about the piss poor writing and SJW agenda. At least they usually include a skip dialogue button these days.
