Alright! I woke up this a.m. and weighed myself for my beginning weight on the Keto diet! I weighed in at 223! That's a pleasant surprise! After 3 months of strict working out and not paying attention to my diet I stayed at the same weight. Now after 1 week of strict diet and following my same workout program, I've lost 5 lbs!
Anyway starting to make my first keto breakfast. Thought of a question last night....Can I still take a protein shake before a workout and after my workout? And what can we eat pre and post workout? Thanks!Last edited by Sideways17; 03-02-2009 at 06:05 PM.

id eat less processed foods. i see a lot of sausages, bacon, and pepperoni. good in moderation once in a while, not so much as a staple.
i mean, i do eat bacon everyday... one piece wrapped around my burger. one of these things every day is fine, but to eat a lot of all three is a lot of **** added in there.
you need some fatty beef in yer diet! real 100% meat.
and wheres the veggies?! 2 cups of greens is weak. lol
eat moar!keto is for lovers.

Yesterday was day 3, here are my meals yesterday:
4:15 am
4 eggs, 4 strips bacon, 1/3 c shredded cheese, 1 Tbsp butter.
10 am
12 small pieces Turkey sausage, 1/2 c almonds, 2oz Pepperjack cheese
2 pm
2 cheese sticks, Deli Turkey Breast, Flaxseed oil.
7pm
Turkey Burger, Salad w/ 2 c greens, cheese and full fat dressing.
Total: 2410 cals 175g protein, 171.5g fat, and 19g carbs
Felling really good so far! Last night I was pretty tired. My legs were very heavy and I was not wanting to get on the treadmill at all, but I did for 30min. One thing I've noticed is I don't go to bed so bloated like I did before keto! Im down to 221lbs.

Hey man,
I'm the last person to ask about carb ups! no one seems to be able to give me a definitive answer on what to eat, what not to eat etc.
My carb up consisted of porridge oats and honey, a sports drink, a cheat meal, clean healthy lunch, small snacks for rest of day.
Next time, I'd reduce the snacks, and would agree on limiting fluid intake. I drank lots of fluid on my carb up day, hadn't thought about limiting it which I'lll do next time.
Sorry I can't be more helpful, if I ever get my head around carb ups I'll have it in my log!
Good luck, hope youre doing better than I am!

Hey everyone,
Its been a few days since I updated. All is well! I got on the scale yesterday morning and was 218lbs! Thats the first time Ive been under 220 in 7 years! My wife says she can tell a difference and a coworker noticed and asked "Hey mate, you losing weight!?" lol, he's british. So I'm trying to wait til monday a.m. for another weigh in but I wake up and feel so light I want to see what the scale reads!
Ive never been dieting and liked the food, let alone having such great results so fast! I'm on day 6 and feel alot better. My calves and quads are really getting defined! My face has also thinned out. I have the metal taste in my mouth but I can live with that. Ive learned that I need to eat more veges and have been the past couple days. Got some spinach and other green leafy veges last night.
Kinda dreading the carb up...dont want to regain the water and have a problem losing it. I guess I just havent fully understood the whole process. Im learning 70% carbs/ 15%protein and 15% fat at 16 to 26 times LBW? Might just do next saturday as my carb up and keep the carbs clean. Want to be careful! Anyways I'm at work today on my day off so I better act like Im doing something! Time and a half baby!!!''The greatest wealth, is health.''

Good progress on the scales bud and don't worry about the carb up. If you keep it clean then it'll work in your favour. It's a good way to see how your body responds, how much weight you re-gain and how long it takes for you to lose it.
It's all a learning process, knowledge is power!Train hard and heavy, nail your diet, get plenty of rest.

No..my carb up will be next saturday. I started monday the 2nd, Im only on day 6. I've just been doing a lot of research about carb ups because I....well I guess it just fear of the unknown. I don't feel like I fully understand how much carbs, fats and protein to take in for how many days. That's all. Ill figure it out, with some help.

well, being a girl i rely heavily on Jecristragedy's recommendations and progress. She said she dropped major inches and felt great after her carb up so I expected the same. PoeticalNinja probably expected the same. He and I both have been disappointed this last week as we didn't drop inches, or weight, we look puffy, etc. Felt like all the progress we made the first two weeks was down the drain (actually, we want it down the drain don't we? . Anyway, he's finally feeling better about the diet and his progress as the water weight is almost gone. I however am still feeling quite bummed. I cut my calories way back (those had gotten a little high though still under maintenance) and added more than 90minutes LISS the last four days. I'm really annoyed with the way I look and feel today.
So, long story short, I say put off the carb up for as long as you can humanly stand.

So, last night my wife and I went out with friends and I really surprised myself. I had a 16oz ribeye, a salad and a freaking fruit cup. I got halfway through before I realized what I was eating. It was a cup worth of strawberrys and blackberrys. I felt guilty afterwards. Damnit...but I didn't drink any beer! Just stuck to diet coke. Im trying like hell to stick to it!

I have a couple questions.
1) I am curious about supplements. Does anyone recommend any brand, type, or flavor. Im currently taking GNC whey, flaxseed oil, fish oil and a multi-vitamin. I've taken no-explode before, but the effects started to fade and it didn't work. I tried Nano vapor too. That was garbage...I've got a buddy who loves superpump250. Im hesitant now about messing up ketosis if I buy a preworkout booster.
2) How much bacon and sausage (beef or turkey) should I limit myself to? I' understand that the sodium nitrate is bad. I have a hard time eating fish and my job is mobile so its hard to have a fridge or freezer nearby everyday. I would be interested in any ideas about keto frienfly food I can carry in my backpack. I already carry almonds, cheese, cans of tuna, deli meat, and jerky. Thanks.
3) I've read that a EC stack is good for keto. Jecri, you take this correct? Good idea? What products and are they just for a preworkout ''pick me up''? Curious, could ya fill me in?
That should be it for now. Thanks a million guys/girls!!Last edited by Sideways17; 03-10-2009 at 07:42 PM.

So im on day 11 of my keto diet and Im kinda at a stand still. Already?? The past 4 days have been a the same pretty much. Last night I picked up the cardio to an hour after my weight workout. My diet has been solid. Hitting my macros within 3 percentage points everyday. Calories between 2300-2400 everyday. Maybe Im just getting impatient. Anyone else have this problem? Silent-1, Rubberguard, Jecri?
