    Weekly Wednesday Weigh-in Redux

Instead of continuing my old thread I decided to start a new one for this weight loss journey. My old one is still there for motivation (https://forum.bodybuilding.com/showt...hp?t=165465711) but this cut deserves its own recognition. As always, everyone is free to join any time. As some of you know, I weigh my self daily but my record my weight here on Wednesdays. I always figured that mid-week gives me a better picture of what is really going on with my weight.

Once again, I was over 280 pounds at the beginning of this year. I am 6 feet tall. I don't know when I started losing exactly, but this summer I was down to 250. Eventually I got stuck a bit at 240 and decided to watch what I eat, but not track. Then when I got stuck again at 230 I decided to get serious and have been tracking. So 2 weeks ago I was 229.0, last week I was 223.0 (thank you water weight), and today I am happy and surprised to be at 221.0. I am now 'overweight' instead of 'obese' on the BMI scale. Considering I am at around 29% BF, I still have a ways to go.

With the radical drop the first week, I was not expecting to lose another 2 lbs. Since I did, I am now trying for 219 next week. I won't be discouraged if I don't make it though as my body finds its new rhythm.

    The tl;dr version:
    Last week's weight: 223.0 ~30%BF
    Current weight: 221.0 ~29%BF
    Goal for next week: 219

Nice work on the weight loss. I'm curious about your BF% there at the bottom. How are you determining this? I'm mainly asking because you also stated that you moved into the overweight rather than obese on the BMI charts this week, and since overweight is up to 29 and obese starts at 30, I'm wondering if you're confusing the two - body fat % and body mass index.

My BMI is 29.97, so the calculators called that overweight. You are right that 30.0 is still considered obese and I guess I need to lose another couple ounces to be under that without going out an extra digit. But I just went with it since my tracker and online calculators shows 'overweight'. As to the BF%, this is based on estimates using calipers, measurements, and historical data for me. It is not perfect, but close enough for what I want. This just happened to be the one time where BMI and BF were close to each other. When I finally get to "normal" BMI of below 25, I should be around 15%BF (or I was last time). Like I said, it might not be exact, but it is what I use.

It is time again for my weekly Wednesday weigh-in. My calorie consumption was on target, but I didn't think the scale was going to cooperate. I am happy to report a weight of 218.8 this morning. So I made it. This week's loss still puts me at about 29% BF. Next week's goal is 217.

Great weigh-in today! I exceeded my goal and today's weight is 216.2 with a BF of about 28%. Even though I am ahead of the game, I know weight loss can vary. With that in mind, I am still sticking to my original timeline and my goal for next week is 215. If this rate keeps up, then I will beat my end of year goal of 210. But I don't want to jump the gun and as long as I meet that 210, I will be happy.

Meanwhile in the gym I had my first "failure". I could not get that last rep on my overhead press. I was doing Stronglifts 5x5 and only missed the very last rep of the very last set. I know that is part of the process (especially when cutting), and know the other exercises will get to that point as well. For now, I will just keep doing my best before thinking about changing programs. Hope everyone is doing well.

    Thanks for the encouragement.

Today I met my goal again plus a little extra because of where I was last week. I am still looking at the long term goals, so I am not adjusting yet even if I am ahead of the game. Today I was 214.4 and ~27%BF. Next week I want to be 213 (+/- 0.2 lbs).

Meanwhile in the gym, things are getting tough. I still have more to go on the deadlift and bench press, but am getting close to max on the other exercises (OHP is already maxed). I figure I will at least finish the year with this program before adjusting (if I do at all).

I like to weigh myself daily just to see what happens. I trust the process, so I don't get discouraged if weight goes up here and there. I have to admit that I didn't think I was going to lose much this week at one point. But true to form, I lost 2.6 pounds. So I am down to 211.8 and ~26% BF. This brings my BMI below 29 by a little bit. Next week is tricky though. We have Thanksgiving tomorrow and I don't think I will be eating my normal calories. I am going to try to not go above maintenance, but we will see. Ideally I would aim for 210 for next week. But maybe 211 is more realistic. I am still ahead of my goal, so anything at or below 211.4 next week will keep me on track. I guess only time will tell.

It was definitely touch and go with Thanksgiving last week. But I managed to make it to 209.6 and am finally below 210 again. I estimate my BF to be about 25% now. I have now adjusted my goals to compensate for any whoosh effect I had in November. So my new goal date of reaching at or below 200 is Jan 15, 2020. This might be tough to do but I am hoping it happens. This puts my new years goal for 2020 to be an appropriate 202.0.

    Next weeks goal: 208

Made it to 208.2 today. For some reason this week was very strange. By Friday of last week, I was showing 208. Then things fluctuated up and down (even below 208) and back up again. So the scale settled on 208.2 today and I am pleased with that number. Looking for 206 next week to stay on track for the end of year goal.
