Surprised everyone is siding with the cabby. He gassed it once towards two or three people, did a 180 (when he could of just kept going) and gassed it again. That is when he hit this fuker.
Cabby should go to prison.

The guy didnt mean to run over him he was finishing his uturn. Im pretty sure if you were in the same position you would of done the same. The cab driver was probably scared ****less and just wanted to go home. He maybe could of turned his wheels and avoided rolling on his face but then again its hard to say if in the heat of the moment he really meant to hurt the guy... I doubt it

Cabby's life was endanger. Maybe one of them would have jumped on if he went straight instead of doing a 180. His life was threatened first, so he did what he had to do to ensure that he'd be OK. Tough beans for the kid who got run over but don't try to destroy someones car and get them to come outside for a gang beating and you probably won't end up paralyzed.

I was under the impression that the cops were called by the taxi and he was waiting for them to get there. Lol at his life being in danger... he is in a fukin car. Also who cares if they fuk your car up, that is why you have insurance. I'd much rather make an insurance claim than be tried for the 4-5 assault charges he faces. There is no reason why he couldn't of slowly pulled out of that crowd. It is clear to me he was pissed off, not scared. Why else did he accelerate at those drunk idiots.

Both sides are stupid and should be blamed for what they did. I can't blame the cab driver for wanting to defend himself and/or flee. However, I don't think the cab driver was just defending himself or trying to flee, and that's where I think he gets some of the blame and deserves to be charged. After the punks start banging on his car, he doesn't seem to be just trying to keep himself safe and get out of there. He seems to be trying either to hit some people or to at least threaten them and come close to hitting them. Watch the second video around 1:00-1:20; after they start kicking his car, he drives through the crowd and has no one in front of him anymore, and could easily have just driven off and escaped the situation. Instead, even though he was now free to escape without further threat, he turned the car back around directly toward the people and accelerated. The guy recording the video seemed to realize at this moment that the cab driver was no longer trying to escape, but was trying to hurt some people (this is when he starts yelling at them to "get out of there!"). That seems to me like what was happening, too; the cab driver should be held responsible for that.
None of that is to deny that the guys are idiots and should also be held responsible for their parts in the situation.

Doesn't look that way at first, when he initially breaks through the crowd. He had at least two directions he could have driven; could have just kept going straight (i.e., to the right of the video), or turned to the left slightly and then gone straight (to the top of the video), and been fine. Now he probably wasn't thinking straight in the moment, but those ways of escape were still perfectly open to him.
