If you eat few calories, can you make up the remainder with "junk food"

So, let's say that someone has a BMR of 2600. If they had only eaten 500 calories that day, and are shooting for 1800 cals/day, can they fill the remaining 1300 calories with a 600 calorie Big Mac, and a 620 calorie Crispy Chicken Sandwich? What are the negative implications of doing this?

If the 500 cals consisted of 4 scoops of whey, all chicken breast, egg whites, etc. e.g.: ~100g protein then yeah knock yourself out with the Big Mac and Crispy chicken sandwich... you'll probably get at least 60g fat and another 50g protein, pretty easy way to meet your macros.
    Barely decent crew

Threads like this make me mad, just because calories are the main factor it doesnt mean micros don't matter. Less that 10-20% of your calories should be from food with poor micronutrients

You could but non-junk food would be better, if you diet clean for a while you might get sick off of junk food cause your body's not used to it. I did today for the first time in a while and I had cramps/acid reflex for a few hours, sucked. In the end you'll still lose weight, go for it if you don't mind not hitting macs.

The main issue really is energy quality and thinking long term, overall health. Assuming this is something you are going to do as the exception and not the rule, then there are absolutely no problems with it.

Yeah i dont quite understand this, you WANT to eat junk food?

I used to every now and then, however, now i avoid the stuff, i would prefer to spend some extra $$ and get some nice eye fillet and cook at home instead of going out eating crap, even if i have to eat on the run i prefer to cook my own chicken at home and take containers out with me, just feel like crap after eating junk food after staying away from it for so long.

Yeah it was a scoop of whey, three hot wings, and 3 oz chicken breast. Not bad macros.

I ended up not doing it, but was just curious. Saving the "cheat meal" for thanksgiving

guys, I don't think 1/4# burgers, even from McDonald's, qualifies as "junk food with no micronutrients." He's asking about filling in his macros with beef, chicken, bread, cheese, and mayo.

Those are normal-ass foods last time I checked. He isn't saying he's gonna eat 1300 calories of skittles.

You people think fast-food is the ****ing devil or something in here.

I agree. A wise man there and im giving you reps when i can again.
Why do I do this weightlifting thing for the last 34 years with all its ups and downs life has handed me? Because each time I came back stronger. NEVER GIVE UP. Gym life is about more than muscles getting bigger and weights going up. Its wisdom discipline dedication humility you name it.

Fck it, I'll say it. Fast food is the devil.

It ticks all those boxes our DNA is designed to yearn for, fat, sugar, calories.

Trouble is we don't hunt wolly mammoth any more, we drive to wendy's in our fat trucks, with our fat families, to eat fat food, and everyone keeps getting fatter.

But who cares because it tastes good and I have freedom of choice.

Well, when i was 35% bodyfat, I lost weight by doing the following:

Breakfast: all kind of fruits (except mango)
Lunch 1: 250grams of chicken and Green Salad
    Cardio burning 700-1100 CAL
Lunch 2: 250grams of chicken and Green Salad
Dinner: 2 Fat-Free Yoghurt with 1TS Honey on each.

I could drink: green tea with 1-3 TS Honey between meals, any amount of that.

when I reached 23-25% bodyfat, I changed Lunch 2 and added carbs (rice)

when I reached 20% bodyfat, I added more fats..

Now im 17% and im calculating macros ^.-!

They make it taste good with salt, fat, and sugar, then they let you buy it from your car because you are too lazy to park up.

Then they advertise it to our kids with free toys and clowns. Thus starting a new cycle of addiction.

    Food is a temporary pleasure.

Achieving your goals, building the body you want and improving your health is a long term pleasure.

I had to change the way I looked at food. Before, I worked out so I could eat. Now, I eat to workout.

i do this A LOT, more often than i'd like to admit. i'm on a cut right now (i try to stay at or below 2200 cals a day) and on monday this is what i ate:

-cup of coffee with about 4 oz of milk and splenda (~40 cals) in the morning
-a chicken salad for lunch at work w/ light ranch dressing (~250 cals)
-a banana, protein shake, and a granola bar at random times throughout the afternoon along w/ copious amounts of coke zero (~500 cals)

then for dinner i went to wendys. got a double stack (400 cals), crispy chicken sandwich (380 cals), and a sour cream/chive baked potato with no butter (320 cals)

total on the day: 1890 cals, plus i lifted so i'm sure i actually came in a little below that. i'm sure a lot of you guys will say that i don't eat enough or you would die eating that way but honestly it's what works for me..yea i get hunger pangs once in a while but it's nothing i cant deal with. i started cutting at the beginning of october at 224-226 pounds and i weighed 212 this morning so it seems to be working for me right now.

the only problem i have with doing this is that food from fast food places is not anywhere near as satiating as food that you can make at home. for those 1100 cals i used at wendys i could have made like two big chicken sandwiches at home with a mountain of vegetables and even some fries for probably less than 1100. it's not something i'm necessarily proud to do, i'm not going around bragging about losing weight eating wendys and burger king, but i felt like i would chime in since i have been doing it and it's been going alright for me so far.

Hey, if you're getting results then what does it matter? Keep at it!

I stay strict on my food all week until I get my cheat day - then all bets are off!

My best cheat day was the same day as the Liverpool v Man U game not long ago. That consisted of numerous beers on the journey down to Anfield, chicken and pasta, fried breakfast, burger in the pub before the game, steak pie in the ground, and 2 Burger King's on the way back up.

when I can finally start recomping I will be eating at least a few double quarter pounders for sure. Unfortunately can't fit them in on my cut - but that doesn't make them the devil.
