Group New Year's Resolution: Pulling 700lbs in 2009.

This will be like a shared journal similar to the "Official race to a 500 pound deadlift thread" http://forum.bodybuilding.com/showth...hp?t=112489371 ,except with a larger weight goal. We could all post our deadlift workouts, and we can constantly critique, and compare each others on progress.

Sign up here by posting your current qualifying lift weight, and I will edit this thread.
No weight or age classes. Limitless members. Raw only(no straps/suit).

This will officially begin on new years, so the deadline for signing up is DEC. 31st.

The person who gets it first in 2009, will be repped by all members who participated/offered.
The limit to get in the prize competition is 615.

    Competitor list:
    1. Deadliftking - 555
    2. Abbrevi8tor - 562
    3. freeride88 - 600

    10. Shanecutler51 - 540
    11. GRAYHORSE - 601
    12. Musclekid92 - 520

Here is also a list of those who can participate, but would not qualify to be repped by every member as the end prize, only because they are so close already to 700. These members are still participating in the resolution to achieve 700lb in the year 2009. these members will be repped throughout, anytime for their work.
    1. Newbtime - 650

    RULES
    1. Everyone must rep the winner.
    2. Everyone must provide a video of their final lift.
    3. Everyone must post updates in this thread on a weekly basis.

Ahhh, what the hell, I'm game.

    Current Deadlift is 562 lbs.

I think it will be quite hard to gain over 100 lbs in a lift in a year, but we'll see.
I'll probably have another meet in December of 2009, so I'll use that video as proof.

I was joking more than anything. I just doubt I can add enough on it in 2009 to reach 700, especially considering the rehab work and all sorts I've gotta do. Oh well.

I dont know, i havent been training my deadlift off the floor.

when I could deadlift 700x4 from the floor with straps, I could rack pull 635x5 from about 4" bellow the knee's. Now I can do about 700x3 from 2-3" lower than I did the 635x5.. so I have no idea.

I'm definitely with you on that.
Here is my first pl meet video from last Friday. It was 525, done more in a gym. I was just nervous about the rules, audience, and it being my first meet. I'm even walking kinda funny.

I've never had a problem with grip, my back strength is my limiting factor, not grip.

Damn, long pause at the bottom. Solid! I'm about four hours from there (just google'd it) when I start training heavy again I should come lift there one day.

Man I want to pull 700 so bad but I've missed 605 about 5 times even when I knew I was good for it.

So WTF put me down for 650 for October. I also say no video, you gotta do it in a meet. That would get everyone out to at least help the sport. You can deadlift only anywhere. Also need to state the date as last day of 2009 right?

Off topic, Strahan I was stationed at Goodfellow from 97 to 98.

ha ha, yea long pause. Thanks!

Yea, man its a place that will change the way you see things about training, and how you train. There are quotes written all over the walls, by pro bodybuilders. Those quotes and the environment had me up all night after than meet. Holes punched in the walls, mirrors cracked. old 45's/equipment. They had some 100's up there too. It's a real hardcore gym. I decided to sneak around a bit, and i saw Ronnie Coleman leg press in the back. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uSNvEpH2L1o). Brian dobson is almost always there, and i got to meet him. He trained Ronnie for the Olympia. it's not that big of a place. It was very inspiring to be in there. They have started franchising out now. And they are opening a modern version about 5 miles from my house.

^^^^ You're a tank, remind me to rep to tomorrow when I'm recharged. Goodfellow AFB is alright... Not! I'm just here for training (non-firedawg), hopefully at my follow-on I'll be able to get into a PL meet, I don't see in happening while at tech school... Too much stress and I'm not always guaranteed to get a workout in. Hopefully later in 2009~!
