Ronnie Coleman benches 600. What can you say?

Well since we've only seen Ronnie benching 495x5 in videos, there is an article on beijinger.com titled "Meet the Human Hulk: Mr Olympia Legend Ronnie Coleman" where big Ron stated that his heaviest bench was 600 pounds. Exaggerated or not?

He half repped 495x5, and the first rep was really slow. 600 lb is definitely possible imo.

Repping 200 lbs DBs for 10 reps, like 5 weeks out, makes 600 lbs bench sound like something he would totally do. Do doubt, actually.

I could see Ronnie doing like 650 if it was offseason and he revolved his training around bench for a few months

It's possible - Stan Efferding has a 600 bench press and he's only a bit stronger than Ronnie on db bench.

That might be pushing it. Wasn't the world record raw bench only like high 600s when Ronnie was competing?
We're dodging more ninjitsu attacks than Flex Wheeler. We're ducking more bullets than George Farah. We're facing more death than a kid leg pressing at Branch Warren's gym.

Henderson hit 711 in the mid 90s. Rinnie told me in about 2001 his best was 600 too. I wouldn't be surprised if he did

He dumbbell pressed 200 pounders and benched 495, for reps, while he was just weeks away from the Olympia, so I'm pretty sure that at his heaviest and strongest Ronnie could bench 600.

Bodybuilders are notorious for exaggerating but this is one claim that is definitely believable. Kevin Levrone claims he tore his pec with 600 back in 93' when in his first video "Full Blown" he was struggling to incline press 130 lb dumbbells. Kevin is still awesome of course though...

lol wut... go to 8min, Levrone dominating 400lbs incline for easy reps, including a pause rep at the end. In contest shape... I can't picture levrone ever struggling with 130s unless it was a burnout set or super high rep

Levrone moving those 4 plates on incline like butter

And yeah, I think a 320 offseason Ronnie would be capable of moving 600 if he'd been gearing up with heavy lifts for a while.... which he obviously enjoyed doing

Yes in 2002 he was much more massive and with the strength to match. In the early 90s he hadn't reached that level yet, which is what I was referring to.

I believe it. Powerlifting is Ron's base, that's where he started. Then evolved into bodybuilding where most of the videos we saw of him were during prep. I can't think of any off season vids of Ron.

Kevin can't keep that story straight. It was published in M&F that he tore his pec on flies with 40's or 60's. I have posted scans of that article on that board here before.

With that being said, it is possible that Ronnie did it. Only he knows for sure since bodybuilders lie so damn much.....even Ronnie was known for that.
