I tore my hamstring(s) and calf this past baseball season. Kept thinking I was fine after a few weeks/month and would return to strain my hamstring(s) again.

I have been doing the p90x program. Specifically the plyometrics, yoga, and stretch x have done wonders for my legs and flexibility. I have noticed a lot more balance, especially while playing the infield.

So I would recommend getting your hands on the p90x plyo DVD. I heard that Insanity has some really intense plyo/cardio DVDs as well.

In pro ball we do a plyo workout typically twice a week during season. These can all be done at the field and I have noticed they keep my legs feeling fresh and explosive.

Square Drill - sprint 10 yards, side shuffle (left) 10 yards, back pedal 10 yards, side shuffle (right) 10 yards....Use cones to get the distance right, we do this 5 times.

Squat Jumps - 3 vertical jumps directly followed by 3 consecutive jumps for distance. We also do this 5 times, and you can add a med ball or weighted vest to kick it up a bit.

Jump Rope - 2 min. regular jumping, 2 min. left leg only, 2 min. right leg only, 2 min. regular.

We do all three of these drills twice (square, squat, jump rope, square, squat, jump rope).

    Hope this helps man.
