Gaining fat in wrong spots HOW TO DEAL WITH IT?

    Hi there all,

I am 31 years old, I was 155 lbs. My height is 5'6
    Male.

I was 155 lbs eating bad foods. I joined gym and I went on cutting diet of 1500 calories and got my weight down to 122.5lbs.

People at work were like omg you need to eat. You look like starved boy. We are going to call your mom. Like that.

I think my body looked good...but my face lost subcutaneous fat and looked like starving boy.

Then I went on bulking diet. I'm eating somewhat healthy. Rice sausages chicken breasts and veggies.
Twice a month I may eat cookies donuts a and w or Burger King

    I'm now at 135 lbs.

I'm gaining fat in stomach area quicker than anywhere else.

When I cut, my biceps are at flex 13.3 inches. Now when bulking and after many exercises it's the same....

What am I doing wrong ?

My main question is , is it possible to cut while not looking like a starving boy?
How can I cut nicely so people dont look at my face and go omg you need to eat ?

Right now my exercises are 4 times a week.

    Doing

    Leg press seated
    Walking lunges
    Cable hamstring
    Step ups
    Chest press
    Shoulder press
    Incline chest press
    Bicep curls
    Db dl
    Db rdl
    Pull ups
Shoulder flexion and abduction using db

You can't choose where you gain or lose fat from.

If you can't cut without looking too skinny, you to gain muscle first.

Fat goes on and comes off where you’re genetic makeup tells it to. If cutting wil make you look too skinny then you should be adding muscle instead of attempting to lose fat
If you don't get what you want you didn't want it bad enough

So... basically he's gained 13 pounds.

    .... In four weeks.

Yeah, definitely NOT "eating somewhat healthy".

Maybe he means he's eating minimally processed food, but way too much of it?

I mean, almond butter and guacamole could be considered 'healthy' ;o)

    here is the update\******

i was 155 lbs. i am around 5'6 or 5'7 im kind of in between...

i joined gym aug 2020 and i was chubby. i did no exercise before that. so i decided to get rid of bad fat before going on bulking. so i went on diet of 1500 cal to 1700 cal...till say end of jan 2021. in this time i went from 155 lbs to 122.5 lbs. i also went to gym 4 times a week and did 15 to 20 min cardio treadmill and also followed a decent exercise program that targeted all body muscles.

yes i went crazy into cutting from 155 to 122.5 lbs but this resulted in good fat loss around chest, abdominal, and arms . i had 4 packs kind of showing which never happened.

i also did some abs work out as well.

but my face was becoming so thin. my rest of body was fine...i even posted pics and people said keep doing what i am doing because i can look like a beast....because i had some muscles...on a thin, small boned body....so those muscles looked bigger...

my problem was apparently my face was getting anorexic people started to fear for me....as if i am dying....this forced me to go on a ...bulking diet...

i eat a lot during lunch...people make fun of me lol...because i eat for 3 ppl.....it involves rice enof for 2 people min...lots of meat...such as sausages, eggs, chicken breat..veggies.....all this on one plate...

dinner and breakfast are of normal size...

i have been eating mega lunch since feb 1 till now....

so now i have gained 122.5 lbs to 135 lbs...

looks like most of these gains maybe fat? not sure...because i dont see abs anymore...and i see some fluff around stomach....

but i am able to lift heavier weights....

my problem is im doing extreme....either i cut doing 1500 calories or i want to eat 3000 caloties....

what is the middle ground? how can i achieve this?

    what should be my goal?

should i stop eating kind of bad foods and go back to clean healthy foods (meaning no sausages...no breakfast sausages, no tim hortons chicken wraps so on) ?

my goal was to gain to 160 lbs then do a nice and slow cut....and once i get to a desired point maintain..or do recomp...

literally eat something in-between, like 2300 calories

for your body composition, it doesn't matter if you eat "bad" or "clean healthy" foods, but it's still recommended to not have a diet full of junk food

Basically all of your "gains" are fat. Putting on 13 pounds in four weeks isn't "bulking" it is just grossly overeating.

All you've managed to do is put on 10-12 pounds of fat that you are just going to have to lose all over again.

You aren't going to gain more than maybe a pound or two of muscle at most in a month. As such, you should be looking to gain 2-3 pounds per month at most.

Hi Lucin, thanks for the reply. Only reply here. That Is mature.

How do I do that? Aim for 2 to 3 pounds of weight gain in a month?

    What should be my tdee?

For example my tdee may say eat around 2500 calories for bulking with good amount of fats carbs etc.

Wont that make me gain fat?

    If I am 5 6 male 31 yo
Going to gym 4 times a week
    Doing moderate to intense exercise

    How should I go about?

Or do I est more like 2500 calories but do more cardio and exercise?

What do you mean by "what should be your TDEE"? Only you know what your TDEE is by ACCURATELY TRACKING CALORIES over a period of time and watching what your weight does. Then eat the amount of calories that has you gaining a couple pounds a month.
All it takes is consistency, effort, proper nutrition, good programming, and TIME.

Don't be upset with the results you didn't get from the work you did not do.

How do I know that what I gain is actually muscle mass vs fat from eating the tdee?

You'll inevitably HAVE to gain some fat if you're in a surplus, the idea is to limit it as much as possible.

If you're getting stronger and your waistline isn't getting bigger (much bigger) while you also maintain a good level of leanness, you're on the right track.

If you gained more than 10 pounds in four weeks then you are already eating way over "2500 cal/day".
