Not sure about LA, but when I was in SF as a young guy, SF General would take people with no insurance. The wait time is horrible and you’re in line with homeless people, but it exists.

If a family is already living paycheck to paycheck, and unemployment only grants them 60% of what they were making, I'd wager that health insurance may take a back seat so that they can simply afford to keep a roof over their head.

A British citizen can use the NHS as before.
A non-EU resident shall pay £400 per year to use NHS anyway.
A EU resident shall either report to the job centre and if he had paid in National Insurance for at least two years he will be eligible for benefits.
Otherwise not.

Any non british citizen not actively looking for work or out of work for more than 90 days needs to have a fully comprehensive health insurance.

There are about 1001 different rules; and breaking any of them can be used by the home office as an excuse to deport you.

That is not true - a lot of Depot's Husky line of hand tools are made in America, some China, but more in Taiwan.

I buy quite a few things made in America from Wal-mart as well - got a hose, hose cart, and nozzle last week all made in America.
