Our complete lack of preparedness shined through. I work at the VA hospital. We had plans for SARS, we had plans for H1N1. I haven't heard a peep about a nuclear mass casualty situation. Do I wait to be called in. Should I travel to wherever the casualties are?
I'm a vital federal resource and I have no direction as to what to do. I suppose I'll just adapt improvise and overcome... ie make it up as I go along. I'm sure I'll probably do the right thing... which I suppose is our National strategy.

NK didn’t gain the technology to make this threat a reality in just the past year. Their neighbors have lived with this potential far longer than we have.
It won’t matter what level of diplomacy we arrive at, a NK with missle capabilities will always be a concern.
We are attempting to cripple a country with sanctions, which we allowed to arm themselves to be able to inflict ww2 type of damage on us.
We live with this threat now.If you poke a bear in the eye, expect a bear like response.

Why not, half the country seems to want to do that for everything.
What could be done? I don't think there is a way to prepare for something this, a direct hit on Hawaii would probably wipe out damn near everything.
There is a place about 20 minutes north of me that has excellent flat iron steaks, been a few years since I have been there, damn now i'm feeling the need."You know that little thing in your head that keeps you from saying things you shouldn't? Yeah, well, I don't have one of those."

Well, one just pack up and drive to Hawaii, but on the mainland I would think that there would be zones of decreasing destruction. Does that sound reasonable?
The actual mistake obviously had nothing to do with the President. It did highlight our lack of preparedness though. Hopefully the deep state will begin working on the issue despite the lack of executive leadership.
This is a great opportunity to make improvements. Playing the blame game on this really isn't productive IMHO.A man who views the world the same at 50 as he did at 20 has wasted 30 years of his life.

Exactly what does anyone propose we do to put ourselves in a position to be “ready” for a missle attack?
I’d love to hear this.
The idiots on capital hill are arguing that DT created a situation where an attack could happen, when the actual threat has been in place for decades.
My hunch is that the deepest thinkers would argue that we could somehow become a world without big weapons. Not going to happen.
So, what do we do? Go back to having air raid drills in schools, and building bomb shelters in our back yards,
We got fcked over by some guys with some box cutters. Surely someone remembers that.
Prepared for a missle attack? Surely you jest. (Not you, but the general population”you”).
Maybe fix the system in Hawaii so the panic button isn’t so close to other buttons. If you poke a bear in the eye, expect a bear like response.

So far nothing, which is the point. We can't stop hurricanes but we have post storm plans in place to mitigate the problems after the fact.
I'm sure the deep state is working on this, as they should, despite the lack of leadership. I'd be surprised it I don't hear something in a few weeks.A man who views the world the same at 50 as he did at 20 has wasted 30 years of his life.
