    in what way slow? weightlifting if you are bulking up can make you a lot bigger, and if you neglegt CV training you can be made a lot slower in things such as running

    Tons of variables there. This one kid at my school could bench 365X5 and he was the 2nd fastest guy in the school.

    Sounds like a ***got excuse to me. I've gotten stronger and faster since I've started working out. I can run quicker and jump higher as well.

    my speed got a little faster when I really started training legs, but not much

    my vertical increased by about 9 inches though

    depends how you lift. off season my high school's track team lifted for size/strength. in season we lifted for explosiveness.

    i'm not gonna get too much into it because there's so much to explain, but basically:

    train explosiveness to be explosive. it's that simple.

    if you had to choose between JUST squatting or JUST doing plyometrics, JUST plyometrics would make you faster than JUST squatting because you're training your muscles to be explosive. if you do both, then you'll be one faster mother****er

    only to a point. any decent level bodybuilder is doing it right and deffonately getting bigger and stronger. after a point though you just wont get faster carrying around alot of weight

    Most sprinters like Usain Bolt (current world-record holder), Tyson Gay (holds his own against Bolt), Asafa Powell (former world-record holder), Maurice Green (former world-record holder) and even Michael Johnson (Some consider to be the fastest man ever) incorporate weight-lifting into their routines.

    Think of it like this: As you build up your (leg) muscles, it helps your legs move much faster due to stronger legs pulling you forward and building up your (arm) muscles helps to have faster hand movement which contributes to leg movement. As well as those, you're losing fat which helps you move faster due to less weight pulling your down

    It's not what you do, it's how you do it. Other factors such as diet and activity level outside of the gym are involved. If you just lift weights, than yes you can become hindered by hasteful muscle. In other words, muscle that you don't use outside of the gym.

    As in running or general movement? I read building muscle/strength makes you faster rather than slower, but I'd imagine if you take it to the extremes it could slow you down. Plus all the fat you take on when bulking.
