I think I'm in love. Sorinex recently posted their latest install at Auburn University. The racks they installed have all the goodies that we already know sorinex has but they also have attached a lat pull/low row to one side and an adjustable cable column to the other. They both have a 300lb stack and the pulley guards have been machined to look like revolvers. Beautiful racks.

Interesting idea, this could be useful for small gyms or home gyms with limited space. I would still prefer them separate but I do like it, nice find.

I've never negotiated for used equipment before so take this for what it.s worth but I'd easily pay $1000 even used with stats like that.

    Maybe initially offer $800?

Gave up on the rack. Seems like a nice rack but I don't think it'll be that useful in crossfit. Plus that 2 hr drive each way just doesn't seem that enticing lol. My Tds rack is fine for now.

To be honest I think that is the cheapest.. The other ones seem to be commercial grade racks.

The XMark 4430 (or Bayou) may be the cheapest pop pin style rack. (compare prices on froogle.com / nextag.com / shopzilla.com)

Check the pictures on the bottom to see all the pop pin racks: http://bodybuilding.wikkii.com/wiki/Power_Racks

So first off this is an awesome thread with a LOT of information in one spot, allbeit thirty couple pages LOL.

    So few questions/clarification on options.

I am going to be building my own rack for a few reasons, Havent seen one out there that seems to have all the goodies in one package (that I can afford anyway LOL),
Because I like building my own stuff and because I can have all the goodies at a cost controlled price.

From what I have gathered here are the principals behind the rack im going to build this spring

-----3 x 3 tubing probably 7 gauge maybe 11 Gauge have not decided for sure yet----Thoughts????

-----Fully welded Side sections with 3/8" CNC cut plates

-----Sumo rack width 42" wide or so, 36" deep at least, for good ROM movements

-----Infinite adjustable safeties for bench press & squat with UHMF to protect bar,Will be really nice & give me the most adjustable ROM vs 2-3"+

-----At least 2 Sets of J-hooks with UHMF to protect the bar and coating

-----Safety Arms built for the front to allow work outside the rack, not sure yet whether these will be built into the bench safeties or seperate

-----Multigrip Monkey Style Bar with a 1.25" front and a 2" Fat bar rear. Thoughts on knurling on the grips vs just smooth??

-----Plate storage on the back side (possibly put UHMF on them not sure yet) I kinda like the "Weight Racks Wing Out" setup so may go that route

-----Storage hooks for Chains and Bands

-----Several Holes top and bottom for band work

-----Storage for Olympic Bars, UHMF lined if I can find it.

-----Numbered Holes on the 4 uprights for ease of use

-----Lat Pull setup on the back side

-----Adjustable Dip attachment on the side (possibly attached to the Bench Press Safties)

-----Looking for min 800lbs use, dont ever want to outgrow it & I like to have more than enough than that OH S!!T I wish I had done that different

-----Some pretty cool cutouts across the top for stability and looks-----Dont want to have to attach it to the floor at all

-----Have'nt started playing with bench Ideas so should I make an attachment to lock a bench into the rack or not, Probably should for the LAT Pull

-----Not sure yet on Powder Coat or Paint, my current oven is not big enough to Bake it but a buddy of mine has a big enough oven to do it

-----Gonna play with some type of Dumbell Rack Safeties, to set them in to start out instead of holding them & rolling back then dropping them.

-----What am I missing or leaving out

Because I like building my own stuff and because I can have all the goodies at a cost controlled price.
If you are serious about doing this I would start your own thread about it. You will most likely get much more feedback that way. I think once you start adding everything up though, you will find that buying one will be much easier and will come with less headaches. It will also not save you much money considering the cost of steel and the amount of time it will take. But I would love to see it come to fruition if you do decide to build it yourself, it would make for a good thread.

    Thanks
I recently saw a tuffstuff rack assembled in a store. I've seen the bodycraft and thought both were very nice, but honestly thought the tuffstuff was better. The adjustments were very smooth, very stable rack in this category.

I was surprised, thinking it would be a POS based on their over the top silly pamphlet showing a guy squatting the wrong way wearing tennis shoes in an angled smith machine.

Thanks guys probably a good idea to start a thread on the build when the time comes. Just kinda collecting thoughts and ideas to bounce around. It will be a little while before I can get it going. Yeah metal is not cheap by any means lol. Makes it a little easier that I buy most stuff in bulk which helps prices some. I own a metal fab shop that we do custom performance parts and suspensions for diesel trucks so I have the CNC equipment, horizontal saws, jig tables and all the tools. So maybe when we get the project we are prototyping now done I will get time to play with the rack.

Hi. I wanted to say thanks for starting this thread. I really learned a lot of what to look for in a power rack and I am in the process of building my own home gym.

I found a power rack today I am interested in on Craigslist, but wanted to know if it is a good deal?

Unfortunately, it does not say the distance between the holes just that there are 13 holes in the rack. Was hoping if someone would know if this is equivalent to the recommended 2" distance or not?

    Thanks!

Don't bother with that rack. For $29 more you can get the Powertec rack from Bestbuyfitness.com and that includes shipping. The Powertec rack is favorably reviewed here by many.

That rack is probably fine, but as already stated, you can do better. Look at the huge hole spacing on that Yukon - it would make getting the right adjustment for benching very difficult.

Here is my R3 with the new chin up bars. I attached the original to the back so I can still use the fat grip bar, it also adds to the stability of the cage.

I am a big fan of this cage. It is made in the USA, extremely well built, and damn near indestructible. I spent a lot of time researching cages, and in the end decided I wanted something I could be proud of but I did not want to drop 2k plus on it. Rogue is a great company to work with and even though they procrastinated on releasing the multi grip bar, I am very happy with it in the end and will continue to refer business to them. The new bar was $160 shipped to my door. That is another reason i love Rogue, they keep their prices reasonable.

Feel free to ask me any questions, I know this cage has already been discussed quite a bit, so I don't want to rehash it too much.
