    I'm 5' 11" 162lbs at the moment. Been working out for 17 weeks now, a lot of cardio mainly (I was about 185lbs when I started). I'm thinking my BF may be low enough that I can cut the cardio to maybe 3 times a week and focus on putting on muscle but I'm not sure. Any guesstimate on my BF% and whether I should focus on bulking would be much appreciated.

    My guess would be 11-13%, fairly lean. From the pics, it looks like you could have some fat stores in your obliques, but it's equally likely you just have fairly well-developed obliques judging by their shape. Abs are coming in, no real low ab fat deposit, and arms are looking pretty lean. Really, you could go either way as far as cutting just a bit more or focusing now on mass. Depends on goals, and whether the beach is in your plans this summer. Right now, I think, you're in good beach shape, but bulking can change that pretty quick.

    Thanks for the response man.

    To be honest I'm just sick of cardio... It's been about an hour a day 4 days a week + 2 days football (1-2hours) for 10 weeks now. I'd like to just reduce it to something like 4 x 15-20mins a day plus the football. I think I went on a bit of a cardio binge and now I feel a bit weird about reducing it... like it wouldn't be enough to keep lowering my BF%... I know most people say getting to that 8-10% mark is the longest.

    Hey guys and Insight, long time no see. Made some great progress recently following the advice given in the Shredded by Summer thread. Essentially got my bodyfat estimated here at 13% a good while ago (see below), and decided to a bulk before the end of university. Bulked for about 7 weeks, then cut, mostly clean, but a good bit of junk here and there. Will be interesting to hear your views as to what my current bodyfat is, got the pics taken in ok lighting and are a bit blurry, not the best, mostly aim to maintain the way I look now and maybe slow-bulk, with a primary interest in strength training. For contrast, the 13% calculated pic is below.

    I am bulking. Was going to do it till 15% BF, but I am afraid I am getting close to somewhere between 15-18%. All relaxed except last 2. Any guesses?

    I am 5'11", 169lb on these pics.

    After pics are blurry as all-get-out, as you said, and because of that it's hard to discern definition other than the abs (which are certainly coming in), but I think you are getting pretty close to 10%. Maybe 11ish? Your slow-bulk/strength building idea seems like a good idea as you are plenty lean enough in any case.

    I agree with 11%, nice damn cut man. Get some muscle on you and you'll have a great physique. I wouldn't wait too much longer to clean bulk/recomp. You could mini bulk now until october, then mini cut, then do calorie/carb cycling and look ripped next summer.

    16% imo I would continue to cut until 10-12%ish, you have decent mass.

    Thanks for the kind words people, I guessed around 11%, very happy to hear that. I think I'm going to continue mini-cutting from now till mid-August as a) it would be nice to get under 10%, b) I'm traveling to and fro and finding it hard to stick to a solid routine with lack of weights and c) it'll give me more 'room' to bulk.

    Come mid-August, I'll start a mini-bulk on a high volume weight and strength training routine (just over maintenance workout days, just under rest days) till I feel comfortable/the end of year. Then by the new year start cutting and switch to low volume strength training routine with lots of cycling for cardio. Should do the trick!

    lean bulk or cut?

    I am just wondering whether i should still be cutting down the fat or might be able to start a lean bulk?
    Weighed about 242 lbs last year and have dropped to 167 currently. Height is 6'1.
    Haven't had my bf checked for a while,but it was 17% last feb.

    Take your shirt off and stand relaxed with arms at sides. You're pulling your rib cage up trying to get a lower estimate. New pics please, so we can give a good estimate.

    Can I please get an estimate? I am struggling with my calorie intake.. I took 2200 calories for the past 2 weeks and my body weight actually increased by 3 kg while I am trying to cut I am also skinny - fat

    I looked back at the other picks you posted from May. You do look like you've made progress but I think the original estimate of 18% was a bit low, you may have been closer to 19-20% then.

    I'm on a keto diet right now eating 1600 calories a day. 65% fat, 35% protein, 5% carbs. Should I up the protein and drop some fat?

    You are definitely lower than that. I'd say 11% is pretty close. Actually, if that's unflexed, you might even be right around 10%

    Really? I did a skin caliper test today (i got a free one as my 'gift' when ordering protein powder:P) and I came up with 10-11%... figured I did it wrong though.
