Well, I have been hitting the iron but have had no time to post, so instead of getting carpal tunnel syndrome lets just say:

    Monday - legs
    Tuesday - chest
    Wednesday - back
    Thursday Delts/Traps/Abs
    Today -arms

Had increases in most areas. Really liking this change in training, it is nice to "get a swole on" for a change. I am liking the continuing body comp changes. I did add another 100 cals to my diet but the weight increases are not really happening yet. That is o.k. because I want to stay lean and just go real slow on the gaining.

Shot a nice little 8 point this morning and will be picking up my winter protein on Sunday. Still have a gun tag for a doe and bow tags for buck, doe and turkey. I was great to get to take the first deer off the property I bought this year. But that is one expensive ass deer

Congrats on the deer. I'm looking at purchasing a piece of property right in the middle of my leased land. But, I believe when he prices it I'll change my mind. You should cut up your deer yourself...much cheaper and not too difficult.

Nice week's worth of workouts....I tried to find something you missed but failed.

I used to hang, skin, de-bone, wrap, grind, mix and stuff on my own. But there is a little butcher shop 6 miles from here and the old guy does all that for about $40.

Well, can't beat that. I used to have a buddy that had a big grinder and I would skin and quarter, then slice up the tenderloin. He would debone and grind the rest for $10. But, drugs stopped that deal in its tracks. Good luck the rest of the year.

Well another week of not posting my individual training sessions. I know, I have been a bad boy . But I have had a good week of getting in most reps and lifts and am maintaining positive forward momentum.

Legs on Monday a good session. The front squats are going well and I tried some one legged split squats with the smith. I will try another variation this Monday. Leaving out the back squats appears to have no detrimental impact on the legs and seems to be doing wonders for my lower back. My calves are really starting to come back fast with the one legged high rep sets.

Tuesday - Chest - Had some good work here. Had increases everywhere but not on flat bench, kind of a step backwards but we will regroup next week.

Wednesday - Back - everything is also going well here, pullups are coming along nicely. Continue to avoid the deal lift and rack pull and my lower back is feeling a lot better. Still feel like I am getting plenty of quality work without it.

Thursday - Delts, Traps, Abs - Good increases everywhere. Really ripping up the delts and getting them burning and pumped. The traps are also coming along. I have been doing lighter weights and really high reps with dumbbells after the barbells and then doing really high rep shoulder rolls.

Friday - Arms this day is also going well, increases continue, much more tiring than one would expect but with 8 exercises it is a long session. 3 tricep, 3 bicep, 2 forearm.

Yesterday we went down to St Louis to see the oldest and her husband for Thanksgiving. She looks like she could pop at any time. Plenty of good food. Spent over 7 hrs driving yesterday.

Have to head out to Iowa City tomorrow morning and come back Sunday to see my Mom. I will need a rest after these 4 days off

Ouch..errrr I mean "thank you Madam!"

I have to say that when I was at the Sheraton in Iowa City yesterday morning I was very happy with my leg development. They had a nice full mirror. I honestly and objectively think they have never looked better in my entire life. Maybe these high reps and lighter weights are agreeing with me. Or maybe just the change in training style.

    Monday Legs

Front Squats - changed up a little, went to regular Olympic position instead of the crossed arms style. I think it helps keep my spine straighter.
    10x 68, 88, 118, 118, 118, 1x 138, 2x 148, 1x 158
I added the singles with a rest at the bottom instead of the one leg work. Even the one leg smith stuff caused some lower back issues last week and I had been driving for over 18 hours in the last 4 days so thought it best to skip any extra aggravation.

    Smith Leg Press 12x 150, 150, 150

    RDLs 12x 131, 131, 131

    Leg Extensions 15x 88, 88, 88

    Leg Curls 14x 65, 65, 65

DB 1 Leg Calf Raises (alternating legs with no rest through all sets, burns like hells)12/12 x 43, 10/10 x 43, 8/8 x 43, BW x 40 I am starting to get a really nice calf ridge again, with just this little amount of work.

Done and great trained feeling, nice teardrop developing, nice ham development happening as well.

Doing any hunting? It snowed a little here last night so I may go and do a little scouting.
I am having trouble gaining again. I am getting consistent increases on the weights since the cut. It seems like every time I increase the calories by 100 I lose a bit more fat. I do love being cut up and am not going to make the same old mistake of bulking huge and then trying to lose the weight. I have never been this lean in my life and if I can only pick up a few pounds per year that is fine with me. I have given up the notion of being big enough to ever compete before 50.
Hunting, yes but I used my buck tag on opening day and really don't need another deer and all the hunters for the hungry quotas are filled. We are limited at two bucks total across all seasons per year. I still have a buck tag for bow and will probably head out next weekend. This is the second shotgun season right now, Thursday-Sunday. Oh yeah, I took off for it but damn, 20 degrees and windy. I turned around went back inside and got in bed.

A good strong solid back day!

    Thursday - Delts, Traps, Abs

woke up with a slight tweek in my left shoulder trap area

Seated Press 1x15x10, 1x12x23, 1x11x33, 1x8x33, 1x10x33 not smooth and mild pain in left shoulder (it is gone today)

Arnolds 3x11x23 that was easy, then I realized I was supposed to do 12 reps this week ops:

    Front Raises 3x11x12.5

    Recline DB Curls 3x11x23

    Spyders 3x12x40

    EZ Reverse 3x12x43

    DB wrist curls 3x12x23

Felt very strong and had a lot more to give even though that session was 90 minutes

Feeling great, slight nagging sacro issues. But not missing the deads, back squats, or barbell calf raises at all, and feel like I am hitting everything harder with more intensity.
    UP the IRONS!

    Nice job Blake.

Yeah, I have given up the idea of getting much bigger. No more gaining wt/muscle and thinking I have made progress only to cut right back down to my original wt.

I'm just planning on staying in shape. Although, I haven't done any cardio in awhile. I'll get back on the treadmill about mid Jan.

If this (insert whatever trivial thing that is upsetting me) is the worst thing to happen today, I'm going to have a great day.

If you gain reps/ weight your gaining strength, I think that's a good thing. I understand totally where you are coming from on the bodyweight/size issue though.

I think your body is your body no matter how much you try to change, you can add strength and a bit of size (one way or another) but huge strides???? not happening...

I was up to 143 (i'm guessing) and now at 138ish.... wanted to be 145 befor a cut... all well..

For some reason, you remind me of a lefty? are you? I have a friend who makes bows, and he made a special lefty bow.

Another thought. It is hard to gain muscle in a ripped state. You are very cut in that avatar. I believe it is easier to gain muscle from 10-12% bodyfat. You look like 8% or so in that picture.

Yeah, every time I bulk, even if it is slow and controlled, by the time I am done cutting I am only a couple pounds up so this year I am going to just try to get the couple pounds without having to put on 20 pounds and then lose it.

Thanks, every little bit helps, but I am going to just keep working piece by piece even if the pieces are very small.

I am a born again righty, mother was left handed and forced me and my twin brother to be right handed. Still left eye and left leg dominant though I have never shot a bow left handed, but shoot all my pistols that way and can shoot rifles and shotguns either way. I admire anyone who has the patience and skill to craft bows. I don't know what you weighed at that last show, but you looked pretty damn good to me.

Good guess, I am right about 8% or so. To give you an idea of my frustration. I bulked all the way to my mid 160s over a few years and was at my strongest and largest. But when I cut last time, I took 6-8 months and lost weight very slowly and lifted very heavy and ate tons of protein and ended up in the mid 140s in that avatar pic. That was about 3 years of work to end up with about 3-5lbs of muscle. Don't get me wrong, the difference on my frame is substantial. All I am saying is I think I would rather just slowly gain a couple pounds per year and stay cut, which is actually pretty damned easy to do for me. Not even doing any cardio right now and have to force myself to eat much of the time. I just started 2800 cals this week.

But more importantly how was the boating and are you gonna do any snowmobiling soon?

You have done great for yourself with the training and good eating. I wish I was as dedicated to it. It's mainly in my thoughts but not my actions. It was a rainy year but I did get a lot of boating in. The past couple of years I have been getting in poker runs with other high performance boats. They are like huge on water boat shows. Beautiful and fast boats running side by side. They have helicopters taking video. You get to meet a lot of people. One problem. I really can't afford to keep doing them!

    Snowmobiling will start very soon!
