Yup. Logged in just to comment.
I bought my old reliable 2000 SD v10 for 7k ( guy wanted 8 ) with only 116k on the clock and 4x4 back in May of last year.
Old but it’s well taken care of and reliable as ****. Extended cab , 8 ft bed , looks great with aggressive tires and a small lift.
I got hit in December and I’m just now getting my payout settled with a lawyer because the guy who tboned me was uninsured so the rental car company will give me the state minimum coverage ( I didn’t carry full coverage because I was with State Farm and they wanted to fuk me for it).
Anyway she still runs good and I’ve been offered what I paid for her with passenger side door and rocker panel damage , lmao u wut m8 ?
I’m not selling my Ford but even so looking for a second vehicle is sodomizing rn because I know a guy who can fix it for really cheap. Friend of a shady friend.
I’m moving in with my sister in a much more crowded city and want a fun car for everyday driving with awd and preferably a hatch or “wagon” to carry all my tradie tools around.
Old wrxs are out of the question , brb 10k for 250k mile 02 sedan or wagon.
Dodge Magnums Are overpriced but are a little long concerning my parking worries
12k+ for a 150-170k hemi lmao , I bet it burns a **** ton of oil and smokes because of a dropped valve at that mileage
The only decent priced options I see are the Golf GTI ( not awd ) or its more complicated cousin
Audi A4 avant. Audi’s are sexy and I love their awd system but man , if that timing chain wasn’t done or if it starts gulping oil you’re ****ed.
DIY wrenching won’t help you here. None of the other meticulous small stuff bothers me.
It’s ****ed boyos , my guy can fix my truck for 2-3 k no joke and I probably can spend 10k after I save a little after that payout
What am I to do ? Give up and buy a hatch civic ?

Bro stay far, far away from the used market right now. About a month ago my wife said she wants a newer vehicle and since hers is about 10 years old right now I said sure and we started looking at full size SUVs that are around 5 years old. We ended up giving up and putting that on hold. They are absolutely insane. My truck, which I didn't get a great deal on since I was willing to pay a little more for the exact color and option combos I got, is worth the same amount now as when I bought it 3 years ago with 30k less miles.

Yeah man it’s crazy. I’m not in any rush so I can wait.
I have a 2010 f150 lariat with 210,000 miles on it. They’re now listed for 15-16k and not even as well maintained as what mine is. A year ago they were selling for like 10 tops. And I only paid like 45 back then. Lol tempted to sell it while it’s so hot. But having a truck comes in handy.
Have an explorer ST now so will stick with this until prices normalize.

I bought my 2012 Raptor with 100k miles for $32k last fall... people on the first gen Raptor ******** group are pretty active on keeping tabs on the used market, these trucks with 100k miles are going for like $40k+ in some areas (srs)
Explorer ST is a sweet car bro (srs) and its hard to say what will happen with used car prices rn with the dollar depreciating the way it is... 4x4 trucks almost seem like good investments currently

lulz yeah bring that raptor to Utah and they'll pay 40-45k for it.
I drove with a buddy of mine to seriously look at buying a raptor from a dealer not too far from Moab. Absolutely no wiggle room on pricing for newer raptors at all. Based on price I kinda was thinking they might have added like $5k in dealer mark up or something. Keep in mind this was in May of last year.Fitness connoisseur

sell the damaged truck right now and get back that cash. you have a limited time to cash in on it. and you can use that to buy an Impreza hatch with 100k-ish miles without having to add. Just find a stock one, don't buy one with mods. then save for something nicer when the market settles back down in 1-2 years.
I would highly avoid an Audi/VW unless you can DIY repair everything. lol @ a Civic.
Not sure where you are located but even in California where the used car market it insane right now, I can buy a clean stock Impreza hatch (not WRX) for $5-$7K with around 100K. There's actually a stock bugeye 02 WRX wagon with 130K for $5K i'm thinking about picking up for no reason other than its clean and cheap!

I used to get a rental car for $28 -32 a day w/ COSTCO rental car membership. Lol...it's like $180 / day now for a chit box compact car now. Colorado, Texas, doesn't matter. legit WTF....
If ya'll are traveling this summer, get TURO app and save $100 a day on rental car. SRSJust trying hard to not be a fat sack-o-chit.

Inflation isn't real guys, it's just a chip shortage and only the used car market is affected. It will go back to normal and prices won't stay inflated at all.
Middle class and lower class won't be affected by any of this. Not tax proposals or printing all this money. It will help! (lord help us)
lol at least now they are admitting that there are some signs of inflation. Earlier in the thread they wouldn't even admit that much.

Bought our 2016 Cayenne GTS for $42,000 a couple years ago. Very cool and unique spec, garnet/black full leather interior (even doors are 100% leather), sport chrono, meteor gray with matching 21" rims.
Same mileage is going for $50,000 now on very plain white and black GTSs without all of options.
Could probably make close to 10k on selling it. But I love it.Stern Crew

$44k trade is probably $50k private and $54k at the dealer tho.
70k miles now. Did a nationwide search on autotrader earlier today. I think there were only 58 Cayenne GTS in the 16-17 years (958.2 category) in the entire country. Everything at 70k miles was $49-52k...certainly none like my build either.
I also think cause of price point a used Cayenne GTS is a hotter car. My sticker was $120k new which makes people weigh a Macan Turbo vs. Cayenne GTS, which is what I did a couple years ago.Stern Crew
