Isn’t it awesome how doing a workout can put a ****ty day into a great day or even just help you stay motivated. The calf work looks killer. The cramps at the end must of been crippling

Wednesday 8.19.2020 Shoulders
3 days in a row with hump day sesh? cot damn we're rolling now!
Plus the fact that all 3 have been morning sessions and I've still been at work firing up the machinery by 5AM
Seated OHP
45 x 10
45 x 10
65 x 5
80 x 5
80 x 5
100 x 3
Been a long time since I did any overhead work! These actually felt solid. after 2 sets with 80 I threw on 100 just so I could say I could still put 100 overhead once. Pleasantly surprised to smash a pretty easy triple! I miss my Illinois house with the high basement ceiling so I could do standing press Seated is better than nothing tho!
Shoulder Shocker
Plate front raise 10 x 10
SS w/
DB Lateral Raises 7.5s x 10
SS w/
Seated DB Clean and press 7.5 x 10
2 sets of these to burnout after the OHP. delts are swole (and sore). fuk yea
calves aren't bad, but holy hell are my butt cheeks sore after the split squats.
The mood boost for my day is huge which I'm reminding myself every morning that I don't want to do anything
immediately after I had to go up stairs from the basement, then up stairs to bedroom for clothes / shower. it was a challenge haha
definitely need a super controlled decent to stay upright! fun lift now that I'm feeling more confident in not falling overLast edited by Woody-5; 08-20-2020 at 02:31 AM.

100 x 7
100 x 7
100 x 7

Love this lift, need to start throwing this into every back sesh
Hammer Curls
15 x 10
15 x 10
15 x 10
that pump
thanks dude!
When I build a house, the basement is gonna have high enough ceilings to SOHP down there haha
yea it's been an early week, lots to do at work so I've been getting in at 5 or before to get the equipment warmed up.PRs: Back Squat- 410x1 / Front Squat- 320x1/ Bench- 325x1 / Deadlift- 505x1

Nice session. Do you prefer dB rows over bb? They definitely hit in a different way. As you can add a rotation in the bottom or top to hit the little muscles.
Man if your building your own house. Just build a shed for the gym and put heat and ac into it. Why lift in the basement if you can do it with a viewMy “training log”

Liking the triple digit OHP Woody
Early AM workouts can be tough to get used to but generally I'd say if you keep doing them you get used to it and it does set me up for a better day mentally. I can't eat much before an early workout and my CNS is not primed so I notice if I wait more towards the afternoon with more calories in me I am a little stronger. But nothing beats a first thing in the morning workout for me personally because of the mood benefits. I feel "sharper" too and seem to be more efficient with work/tasks etc.

Monday 8.24.2020 Bench
no mountains the weekend- lots of unsettled weather in New England right now. Two confirmed tornadoes touched down in New Hampshire yesterday. Glad I wasn't on the trail hah
Smashing the bewbs was a great way to start today. Bench felt awesome so I tossed in a little extra. Muscle memory is legit, it's coming back
Bench
45 x 10
45 x 10
95 x 5
135 x 5
165 x 5
165 x 5
165 x 5
205 x 1
165 was flying up. Decided I needed to bust the 200 mark again. 205 felt heavy but it flew up no problem. Another month and I might be back in 2 wheel territory!
DB Bench superset w/ DB Flies
42.5s x 12 / 12.5s x 12
42.5s x 8 / 12.5s x 12
quick superset burnout after the BB work. arms were twitching on the last set of press. killer pump
Yea i've always preferred DB rows, love the way they hit.
I'm definitely building my own place with all the extras that I want. Nice gym space with high ceiling, sound proof studio for the guitars, a nice shooting range outside...
Thanks dude! pressing is feeling decent, bench and OHP. Long way to go from where I used to be but when I stay consistent it flows back quicker than I anticipated.
I don't think I could get back into the swing of afternoon workouts at this point. After the work day I'm ready to kick back with a beer as soon as I get home.
Split squats tomorrow. My butt cheeks are peppered for the pain hahaPRs: Back Squat- 410x1 / Front Squat- 320x1/ Bench- 325x1 / Deadlift- 505x1

An outdoor shooting range would be awesome! I’d probably turn it into a driving range/gun range.
Nice work on the benching. Breaking the 200 mark is great. Glad everything feels good to progress.
Yeah man afternoon workouts are tough now. What’s more fun a workout or a beer lolMy “training log”

Tuesday 8.25.2020- Legs
Woke up ready to kill it this AM. Loving the short workouts, I"m anxious to get after it.
Split Squats
BW x 5 (each leg)
45 x 5
65 x 5
65 x 5
65 x 5
65 x 5 >>>drop set>>> BW x 10
these felt great, almost no balance issues other than the first rep or two of the first warmup set. after the last workset I immediately racked the bar and ripped out 10 BW reps each leg. Successful burnout was successful. DOMS are gonna be murder tomorrow
Standing Calf Raises
165 x 20 >>> BW x 20
165 x 20 >>> BW x 20
165 x 20 >>> BW x 20
I'll take beer for 1000, Alex
Thanks dude! Feels good to see some strength returning. Was disheartening at first doing worksets on a weight that used to be my first warmup set hah
Can't wait to have a shooting range at home. My old man has a nice place to shoot at his house. So jelly. "My range can go hot in a matter of minutes!" he says.
The local one here isn't bad, but it's 15 min drive, gotta set up, deal with other people, not supposed to blow up watermelons...
On that note, the custom holster I ordered for my Deagle came in yesterday. Love it
Thanks dude! I've never had good MMC on BB rows. DB is where it's at.
Bench is feeling great, hoping in a few more weeks I'll be tossing on 225 and throwing that up with ease.PRs: Back Squat- 410x1 / Front Squat- 320x1/ Bench- 325x1 / Deadlift- 505x1

Much respect for sticking with split squats. Are you gonna try one legged deads soon? I prop one of my legs behind me on a bench and its more like a RDL but they are BRUTAL lol. Wednesday 8.26.2020- Shoulders
Little sluggish today- went out for a few hours last night so at 4AM I was hella tired. Still put in some work tho!
Seated OHP
45 x 10
45 x 10
65 x 5
75 x 5
80 x 5
85 x 5
didn't feel bad at all
Shoulder Shocker Giant Set
(plate raise 12.5 x 10 >> DB Laterals 12.5s x 10 >>> Seated DB C&P 12.5s x 10) x 2 sets
upped the weight on these burnouts a little bit. Definitely can feel it. Lifting my arms might take some work today
Nervous to try any deads TBH, but I'm interested to check them out. I have a doc appt next month so I'm gonna grill him on pushing with heavier weights / certain lifts etc regarding discomfort that I've run into.
Thank you! Hopefully this country calms down a bit and it'll make an expedition to one of the peaks more feasible.PRs: Back Squat- 410x1 / Front Squat- 320x1/ Bench- 325x1 / Deadlift- 505x1

Man jelly that gun and holster.
Nice work on the ohp. It does suck to be doing your warmup weights as working sets. But it’s better then letting it get to you and not lifting.
Have you tried any maybe some banded deads or super light ones for higher volume? My “training log”

That is a lot of gun lol. No such thing as a concealed carry with that monster on your hip
Good job getting some work in despite being tired. As far as MMC goes with bb rows, try them after you get some DB rows in. I have found it really helps to "find" the lats with the bb row after I have gotten in the work with the DBs. If, that is, you have any desire to use a BB for rowing. I would think, with your desire to stand on top of the world, that the DB rows would be more beneficial for that kind of work. You would be surprised just how much time I have to waste.

Thursday 8.27.2020- Back
Stellar sesh today fellas! Work is going to be much calmer today so I didn't feel the need to be there at 5 to start the machinery. Made for a less rushed feeling workout and I tossed in some extra moves. Felt great!
Dope will be pleased to hear I found my ab wheel and tossed in a few kneeling sets of those at the end.
Overhand CG Lat Pulldowns
90 x 10
90 x 10
90 x 10
Underhand CG Lat Pulldowns
90 x 10
90 x 10
90 x 10
lats were toast! Loved doing these right after the overhand ones. the extra help from the biceps on these allowed for more volume and extra punishment on the lats.
DB Rows
42.5 x 10
42.5 x 10
42.5 x 10
used my versa grips for these so I could go thumbless and it really took the biceps out of the equation and toasted the target area even more
Alt DB Curls
12.5s x 10
12.5s x 10
12.5s x 10
Kneeling Ab Wheel Rollout
x10
x10
Thanks dude! It definitely was tough to get going again with light weights and keep motivation. I tried a few times before I finally stuck with it.
I haven't tried anything for deads yet. Debated it this morning, but I think I"m just gonna wait until after my Sept doctor's appt and get his opinion
Wait till you see the new piece I just bought myself for an early bday present...
Lats were always tough for me to get MMC with. DB rows and cable work seem to be the best way for me to nail it. unilateral moves seem to be best for mountain stuff
Yea no way I was gonna get an inside the waist band holster for that thing.
But my new one dwarfs it....
My birthday is just over a week away so I treated myself to an early present...

Little groggy after the weekend but I managed a nice bench day to start the week.
Bench
45 x 10
45 x 10
95 x 5
135 x 5
170 x 5
170 x 5
170 x 5
These were flying up. Had several reps left in the tank on all of the 170 sets. 135 warmup felt just about like an empty bar. fuk yea
DB Bench
42.5s x 15
super set w/
DB Flies
12.5s x 20
Did some shooting the weekend with the new SW500. what a badass gun. Hurts the hand after a few rounds

Thanks dude! Dr appt in less than a month so we'll see.

lol dem guns just keep getting bigger. mirin the way it tore that gallon jug off the post. How far out were you for that shot?
Also, great work on benchpress. It takes some discipline not to throw on weight when it is feeling that light. What are versagrips? Noticed you used them on DB rows? Is it this type:

Tuesday 9.1.2020- Legs
Slept like a rock last night, hence getting up at 4 was a challenge but I managed. Just hit my main lift and GTFO. Legs still got trashed, dem split squats
Split Squats
45 x 5
70 x 5
70 x 5
70 x 5
>>drop set>>
BW x 10
balance is so much better on these now, I don't even have to think about it. That drop set at the end to the BW burnout is brutal. Stopped for a second after the 6th rep on the last leg and had to tell myself not to be a pussy, there's only 4 more.
Haha thanks dude, that gallon exploded, it was awesome. Much funner than shooting paper.
Thanks apeman!
That shot was from about 350.
(actually probably closer to 10 yards.)
The hand cannons won't get any bigger than the 500 magnum. That thing is such a beast, I love it. Everything about it is just so absurd.
Yea those look very similar to my versa grips, mine are just older.
I was so tempted to toss on 225 and give it a shot but I'll wait a few more weeks.PRs: Back Squat- 410x1 / Front Squat- 320x1/ Bench- 325x1 / Deadlift- 505x1

Wednesday 9.2.2020- Back & Shoulders
Looking at a possible mountain trek on Friday so I did an extended session this morning to cover both today and tomorrow's lifts. I prefer to have a solid day off before any climbing.

DB Rows
47.5 x 10
47.5 x 10
47.5 x 10
versa grips / thumbless grip. Slow and controlled all the way up and down. back is gonna be solid for carrying my winter pack in 2021

Alt DB Curls
12.5s x 10
12.5s x 10
Alt DB Hammer Curls
12.5s x 10
12.5s x 10
The more I stick with them the less of an issue balance is.
Pretty short session but I'm glad I forced myself to do it rather than end up with nothing.
Thanks dude!
pretty light, but better than nothing!
