normally go for a 15 year old civic with 200k miles but if we are talking yolo, and this is just theoretical, I would never get this crazy in real life, but maybe go for a 2012 civic with power windows.

i did. well, somewhat. i wouldn't go as far as "YOLO."

my truck was paid off and i worked it out where i was able to get a challenger SRT as a second ride. i've had it for a couple years now.

you have to take everything into account and you have to have your money right. i bought a place and my girl lives with me which made everything a little easier financially. i stashed money for 3 years before making the purchase, so i was able to put a healthy % down. we also don't have kids.

long story short i just wanted to get one before having kids and wishing i did it for 18 years. there are always so many ways to talk yourself out of such an unnecessary purchase. i always wanted a big dodge challenger and i got it. i can move on with my life instead of daydreaming all the time.

I bought 3 different fun cars new but took 7 or so months to make sure I was picking the right car.

Do not YOLO a car, make sure you are buying a toy you will enjoy.

Yes. I always wanted an Ultima GTR and love putting things together. I had my eyes on one for the longest time but when they came out with their new RS model I just said now is the time so I sent a deposit.

A true yolo moment because I'm going to do a top spec model with an LT5 motor, all carbon options, Tillett seats, etc etc.

Not exactly a YOLO car or dream car for either, but I did it twice.

Always wanted a WRX since high school...few years ago my car crapped out and I needed to get another...either used or new. Looked at used WRX's, then decided with how they hold their value, reliability, and potential for modding, a new one for only a couple grand extra was a safer bet.

Did it again 4 months ago...always wanted a Tacoma, WRX was nearing end of warranty period, so I traded it in on a 2014 near top of the line model.

No regrets with either decision tbh. Planning to drive this truck into the ground and then some.
"So there I am sitting in the waiting area of the hair salon with my niece and Keanu Reeves walks in. I was nervous as ****, but too scared to say anything to him. Then my niece started crying, and I’m trying to quiet her down because I don't want to bother him. Pretty soon he walks over and asks what's wrong. I replied that she was probably hungry. He put down his magazine, picked up my niece, and lifted up his shirt, and breastfed her right there in the salon. Chill guy, really nice about it."

Bought an FRC C5 about 10 years ago. Heads/cam/nitrous/etc. Drove it for two years and sold it for $3k more than I paid. Was a legit 10 second street car that got 30'ish mpg. Insane back then. Since then I've just stuck to my company rides and wife's various SUV's. Getting old.

Yeah I did. Drove, and still driving, a POS daily driver for almost 5 years. Got my finances together. Retirement is solid even if I have at least 30 years left of work ahead of me. Was debt free. Pulled the trigger on a 2018 Mustang GT. I can't say I regret it but I did take a loan out as I didn't want to use cash to purchase the vehicle so besides the debt over my head now, I love the dam thing as my second car.

I was in need of a car and was on a short time crunch. I wanted to get it over with. Had already been at another dealership for several hours and then went to a different one. Ended up buying that day. I should have waited and bargained more. I definitely overpaid by a few thousand.

    Feelsbadman.

And then a few months later I bought a "project truck" wanting to fix it up...yea that didn't turn out well either lmao.

that was the most impressive part to me about my c5. i always assumed they got ass gas mileage and never really looked into it pre purchase. drove from ny to grand rapids michigan and averaged 32mpg. i couldn't believe it lol

Yes, then sold it after a couple of months. Thankfully I got such a huge discount on buying new that I really only lost what I paid in tax when I sold it.

This. There are rumors that the C8 z06 will start at over 100k. 105-110k for a base.

    I'm still getting it.

I just leased a 2020 dodge charger too. Picking it up in spring.

Life is too short to not go after what you want. But obviously you have to be smart about it. Can't just work for your cars. If the income allows, go get what you want.

Not saying it's a good idea, and not putting down anyone for being financially smart, but some of this "live in squalor and stuff every penny into retirement" crap is kind of stupid too. Some of you all aren't even going to make it to retirement age. It doesn't take that much investment to be sure that by age 60 you'll have a good nest egg. Not going to not live my life like a poor person and miss out on things and increase whoever inherits my money can go waste it on their dream car.

My house is paid for now, and I have money in the bank. I bought a new truck last year and it's not a base model to say the least. Yeah, sometimes I think of what I could spend that money on that would be more financially beneficial but I'm not thinking about that when driving my truck I'll put it that way. Of course I drove my old truck for 16 years and going from a 2002 to a 2018 was a bit of a culture shock. A few months ago, I had the opportunity to buy a used GTR that needed some work, and I'm a GTR tech for Nissan so yeah it would have been a good one but I'm not that YOLO. lol

I doubt many of the annoying tard miscers who drive 20 year old chit boxes and post chit like "I put my money in the market" (on 45k their salaries) post here homie

We're more likely to splash out lol. For me it was just that I didn't like the visibility in the ZL1 and didn't want to void the warranty on modding a 58k car

Luckily I've sold every new car I bought for very little loss, so they work out as cheap rental cars. I only lost 4k on my BMW and drove that for a year and a bit so it was an ok lease lol.

Should have got the GTR tho

My old 'bird. loved driving her through the desert with the tops out. Used my student loan money to get her.

this echos my sentiment at the time buying the challenger. i had a 'now or never' because i was 30, i had a serious girlfriend i could see myself having kids with, i had my living situation all figured out. i had to pull that trigger because who knows what's next and a kid will always be a reason not to buy something huge like that.
