It’s fairly easy but the difficulty is more decent if you don’t grind

Not as easy as sun/moon though. This is a 4-5/10 when s/m was a 1/10

Debating between sword and shield was looking at the exclusives and saw Gengar (my favorite pokemon) had an exclusive gigantic raid battle in shield. Not sure what that means, can you capture him in both games? or is the raid battle how you would capture him? Also I assume you can trade any exclusive between the two right?

- you can increase IVs via battle tower shennanigans
- you can change natures via mints(consumable items) [nature stays the same but the growth changes switch to what you want]
- 4-5 star raids guarantee 3+ 31iv pokemon i think

Speaking of difficulty reminds me of the most beastly fight of all time:

pretty easy to get an op team from early on. Its easy to fish magicarp, in fact there is a spot that almost exclusively spawns level 28-30 magicarp right before the city that contains 4th boss. I caught like 15 of them until i had the nature and ivs i wanted. Exchanged that one with the gyrados i already had

It is unbelievably easy if you use toxtricity (which is another OP pokemon you get for free (toxel)
Since toxel has a 20 damage electric move that auto paralyzes. You catch magicarp 1st try every time with a normal pokeball. So basically you get a nature farmed high IV lvl 30 gyarados pretty early on in the game very effortlessly

Then you slap on that Waterfall TM that you already have (which is a high damage move that is stab and also takes advantage of his high physical)

and bam GG

Not sure if dratini is in it but you're still going to want to breed. it's pretty expensive/time consuming to boost IVs so what i think will be ideal is something like

breed the pokmon with 3-4 31s then use the battle tower to get the remaining 1-2 to 31.

for me i'm just picking up pokemon based on how they look and their moves early on because you can obviously beat any pokemon game with any team. I'm liking Purrloin, Rookidee (hnngg at his last evolution), Pancham (bad ass panda) . Later on when I complete the game, if I still want to build a competitive team for online battles then I will, but I likely wouldn't even dabble on online battles.

1/4096 odds at best, for random encounters w/o charm (and thats only gen6 and on IIRC)

i wouldnt be surprised if you havent encountered a shiny, if u havent hunted for one...

i have ran into maybe two random encounter shinies, but have played the **** out of these games. (multiple playthroughs of each gen. 900+ hrs in OG Gen7 lol)

you should try to get a shiny charm (i am guessing yoi never have in any gen?)

First Pokémon Game I've played since Fire Red and before that had only played RBY and GS.

For a casual I like the game a lot. Fun, easy to pick up and down, looks decent enough on my TV.
My only gripes are two of my favorite pokes got axed in dexit (Nidoking and Alakazam), and the rival battles are a joke.
