    I was taking 5 grams in the morning then 5 grams after lifting, and I think my workout drink that I was drinking during workouts had some creatine too. I've cut back to 5 grams a day on training days...

    5x5 beginners routine would be my suggestion.

    Work the entire body with frequency and compound lifts and you will get a much better start to lifting.
