Shock Wave Therapy

My knees hurt. A local chiropractor has an ad on Facebook for Soft Wave Therapy (also called Shock Wave Therapy), which consists of using sound blasts to cause micro trauma to an injured body part, which is supposed to start a healing response. Anyone have knowledge/experience with this?
