It makes the images less jagged, but not really clearer. Do this: take a 72dpi image off the web, open in Ps. zoom tight into a specific area and look at the pixels. Increase dpi to like 150, then...

You can increase the DPI in Image> Image Size> Resolution, but you can't really make an image clearer, it only gets worse from where you start.
