I might be gluing a small strip of rubber to the bottom so save my lifting platform. I'm not even that sure if I'm worried about it to be honest. I'd just hate to tear up the finish of the platform...

Not all failures are vertical. What would happen if you blacked out and fell backwards or forwards with the weight on your back? For those reasons I prefer a rack.

Look closely at the rack they show with that bar. It looks like it has a 16" extension like everyone has been asking for.
