A power rack, bench, and with a 300lb oly set would be a good start.

I saw your thread and that's what got me interested in gym auctions, I guess it's a gamble taking the day off to go, if I don't go I wont know what I've missed, I'll have to see how work goes this...

Anybody have any luck getting gym equipment at good prices at auctions, here's one in my area, but I will have to take the day off. Is it worth it?

I got a gun works pretty good at getting someone to back down, it helps more if you have one, but sometimes they just take your word for it. LOL!

I'd say free weights are better if you have to choose between them, the correct answer however is Both.
