1X5 is less overall volume. My grip strength does better at 3X3 and overall form is probably better too. If I did 1X5 I'd be tempted to throw on a couple sets of rows to follow them up.

I actually found this thing for a platform, but I think the footplates are too narrow for safety and theyre angled inward, which would cave in the knees. Not sure if You could assemble it backwards...
