I find it matters for flat barbell AND dumbbell bench. For incline, it shouldn't be as important. If you already have a good flat bench, stuff like pad gap and pad width shouldn't matter so much.

Just know that the Rogue Adjustable Bench 3.0 has an 11" pad width vs Reps true 12" (upgradable to 14").
