Marcy, Weider, Gold's Gym, Force USA, etc. are all poorly made. You won't find a good Smith machine new in the $1,500 range. You can, however, a find a good one used for that price.

I get that these are $2k even used, but in my eyes this is worth ~$100 in its current state. I'd have it repaired if I wanted to get more for it.

The bag should weigh at least 1/2 your body weight. There are a number of good bags out there from Title, Ringside, Outslayer, Fairtex, etc. I would stay away from Everlast.
