https://www.yahoo.com/news/california-governor-says-mask-mandate-191002990.html
UPDATED with latest: On the same day his top health official told reporters that California-mandated capacity restrictions on businesses would be over on June 15, Governor Gavin Newsom confirmed that the state’s mask mandate will be gone, as well.
When asked by Fox News LA’s Elex Michaelson if there would be a mask mandate after June 15, the usually-loquacious Newsom said simply, “No.” He did go on to explain the rare circumstances where masks would still be needed
“Only in those massively large [indoor] settings where people from around the world are convening & people are mixing in real dense spaces. Otherwise…no mandates,” he told Michaelson.
Everyone talks crap about out commie state yet we are getting vacced and can be open.
Californians are taking to heart that the majority of people are vaccinated. When I was down on Mission Beach the other night.... it was packed an no one was wearing a mask.
Public drunkeness is back in full swing as well as I saw some dude get punched in the face twice before flipping backward over the boardwalk wall and into the sand though. Back to normal I suppose.
Wears that Farley guy? I told him by summer, if Biden won this Covid would be forgotten, except Biden will continue to campaign it.
Biden keeps the mask through 2024.

The commie state is why things closed. In freedom land you have choice, like "hey that place is busy, I'll go somewhere else". In commie state, there is very little choice.
We are not in full commie state, once the people give up to the government and let them make our choices is when the full commie state happens.
......we are getting close though, we are half socialists.
The people who don't even work are the ones hoarding all the chit too.

No it was because there was a pandemic. Now we are vacced and hardly have any deaths anymore. No masks after July 15th. Aren't you excited?

That is total BS, the government picked who was allowed to stay open, that's what commie states do.
A bar can easily of enforced SD'ing, instead government closed them, so people drank at other peoples home, which never helped.
I don't know why you don't understand that gubmint didn't save any fuking lives, they ONLY hurt private business, which kills our freedom.
Seriously, thank you for all the info you've contributed. It has certainly allayed my fears (not completely) of getting the vaccine.
You know, I think you're good. No one should be completely fearless when taking any medicinal product. Not a vaccine, not an antibiotic, and not even Tylenol. Medications, vaccines, medical devices, and procedures all have risks.
Talk to people, ask questions, ask more questions. At work, people often apologize for "wasting my time" when they ask me a question. Especially if it turns out to be obvious to them after I answer. I always tell them not to be silly, that it's nice to feel useful every once in a while, and that in the long run, I'll probably have more questions for them than they have for me. And I mean it every time I say it. It's usually true because I like to understand everything about the projects we work on, so I ask lots of question.
On something like this, people should ask questions. You should be talking to your doctors or health care providers if you're nervous about the vaccine. That's what they're there for. Doctor comes from docco, Latin for teacher. You don't have to be sick to go see them. Make an appointment to ask about the vaccine if you want. I guarantee that if it makes you more comfortable and results in you getting the vaccine, they'll feel like they did something good. Even if you decide not to get it, they'll still feel like it was worth their time because they got to know you a little better, shared some of their knowledge, and knowing you better means they will be able to help you better in the future if you need something. That's a win win situation.

How many layman people have worked under you? Not college educated people - barely high school passed. Easy to “control” them - is it?
It’s easy to call it doomsday for anyone. If they didn’t do what they did we’d be witnessing what’s happening in India right now.
But yea free country - we all can have our opinions
That’s correct, that is wife’s doing, not mine.
My deal with the vaccine is if there is no reason for me to take a vaccine, why do it, I don’t live my life to please the public.
So you caved bro. You should have asked yourself what Ken Patera would do in a situation like that? Would he roll over and get the vaccine? NO! He would punch a cop in the face for even suggesting it. He would then throw a rock through his window and have Bobby Heenan leave a flaming bag of poo on his doorstep.
You gotta up your game bruh. You ain't gettin' nowhere with that weak-@ss sh!t you are bringing. It is Ken Patera or nothing son. One or the other. A binary choice. A fork in the road. A fukkin' dichotomy. A flip of the coin. Do better next time.

Anything that has effects likely has side effects.
People say they're going to take these natural supplements because they don't have side effects. That's because they do absolutely nothing.
And if they do anything, it's probably bad.
I know people who don't want to take the "experimental" vaccine because it hasn't been tested enough but will put any weird thing they know nothing about into their body if some kook on the internet tells them to as long as it's an untested unregulated supplement being sold by an uncredentialed quack instead of an evil medication from Big Pharma.

So much this. I love the person who will eat an unidentified mushroom someone gives them or snort some powder from a stranger without hesitation but whoa these vaccines reviewed by the FDA are too risky.
I'm guessing 95% of people are smart enough to realize they're better off getting vaccinated than not getting vaccinated if they take the time to look at the data, so I'm optimistic.
You had me until this condescending bit. Maybe it wasn't intended to be so, or maybe you live too much in your own bubble to appreciate that there are plenty of smart people out there who make a living solving complex problems and have seen enough examples of unintended downstream consequences to be more cautious on the uptake. Intelligent people can also very well disagree on risk analysis outcomes given the same data set, or have a different final outcome as the goal.
I have tremendous respect and gratitude for the scientists working on these solutions. I think this could be a turning point in medicine and I'm quite optimistic for its future. But you only know what you know right now. That's not an insult to them by any means. Long term data exists for a reason. There are many questions and variables to consider beyond whether a vaccine is safe and helpful in the short term. Smug and cavalier dismissal of people as unintelligent while they cautiously weigh these additional considerations only serves to cement doubt about your own humility towards the problem.
Intelligence isn't an all encompassing state. You can be a wizard in one direction and a gullible fool in another direction.
Intelligence isn't an all encompassing state. You can be a wizard in one direction and a gullible fool in another direction.
This is definitely worth repeating.
An example is my brother, he is a bit like an antisocial non communicative version of Sheldon Cooper but far more intelligent, although only in academic science. But in other ways he is unbelievably bafflingly stupid in ways that only a really "clever" person can manage.

Oddly all the people I know that haven't gotten the vaccine yet and are hesitant to do so haven't because they are anti vaccine. They both are hypochondriacs. I'm kind of curious how many people wont get the vaccine for non-political reasons.
Intelligence isn't an all encompassing state. You can be a wizard in one direction and a gullible fool in another direction.
Very true. But we also all just suffer from blind spots from any number of sources of unconscious bias, which I don't consider to be the same thing as being gullible. They can happen just as well to someone who lives within a particular field of study as someone who doesn't. Experts can lose the forest in the trees, suffer from over-confidence from extensive knowledge in the specific pathway of focus, etc.

I am in the category of not having gotten it (even while having access), but certainly not in the category of "won't". My reasoning is pretty simple. Our goal should be to decouple hospitalizations and deaths from infections. It seems we can achieve that by vaccinating as many people as we need to (those with high risk factors) while we continue to collect data and monitor the outcomes and efficacy of doing this on both the individual and global scale. I don't consider covid a significant individual risk to me, personally, at this time. If it becomes clear that mass vaccination of people with low risk factors will be necessary to protect people with high risk factors, I would likely take one for the team.
One thing that I am concerned with is that what does it matter if we're all vaccinated if other countries are not getting them as fast? It's not like the virus knows to stay in one place.

Now you go find professor Gabber and do some high rep squats with respectable weight and have the professor put a mask on you while your trying to recover, lol.

Yes Cass we are so excited that we go back to what's been perfectly normal for the entire duration of our lives minus 1 year. We are practically jumping up and down with excitement.
Sarcasm, just one more service we are proud to provide for free.

I listened to Newsome and i figured that they feel that the vaxx has left us less vulnerable to *serious* health consequences.
So people will continue to get sick from mixing with international visitors/businessmen but the severity of consequence will be lessened.
Take for ex, i go to a tech conference and am exposed, well maybe i get flu like symptoms but can sleep on my back and can breathe at night.
