No, it's really not feasible to daily a vehicle that old, unless you don't mind driving around a junker, buying new is good, it's just the techie stuff is useless features that cost money, the engines are good and last longer for sure, but even buying a new car with an older style but new engine is better than all the tech, like say a new car with a new engine with 1970's technology.

Seriously? Had not heard about that. Their credibility doesn’t seem to be a factor in their decision making process. If they really “cared” they would try to allocate vaccine to people who have not been diagnosed with covid previously in the younger age groups before people who have had it. That would have more impact on reaching herd immunity faster. It’s almost as if they enjoy this and want to play longer.

There has been plenty of virus juice available to anyone who wants it where I am now for weeks, so I assume that's the case for the majority of the US at this point. Allocation priority is no longer a thing, unless I am missing something.

I'd take an old engine in a new tech car any day provided the old engine was fuel injected instead of carb. The ease of maintaince and repair on the old engines why I like them. Newer cars are loaded w/sensors and other stuff all jammed into the bay and while its nice to plug in an OBD to help find the issues, the old engines were pretty easy to self diagnose.

I'm already in the planning stage for my oldest first car. Shes 11 :D I picked up a 2010 Honda Element I'm in the process of bringing up to snuff so I can daily that and give it to her in 6 years. 8 people caught the South African variant within the first 14 days of having their first Pfizer vaccine dose. None that had 2 doses of Pfizer caught it. I know nothing about vaccines but I assume it takes time to build up antibodies with the vaccine, this doesn't seem like a big deal.

Interesting and definitely something that should be studied further but let's not ignore it's a study with an small sample size that has not been peer reviewed.

Convenient that a thin Israeli study on the Pfizer vaccine is released as they are in the midst of a controversy about not paying for the vaccines and Pfizer threatening to halt shipments.

I absolutle disagree. I know dozens of people who are fully vaccinated, but have concerns about this vaccine.

Could be...
But the study isn't very helpful. I've had AZ vaccine today (see post earlier) and I don't expect it to prevent me getting infected by SARS-CoV-2 but I do hope it will prevent me from getting a serious case of COVID.

If that study of only 400 individuals is repeated with a larger sample and also looks at not only if people test positive but if they have symptoms and how serious, then I'll be very interested to read it.I

If anything I see getting a very mild or asymptomatic case as something probably beneficial for me. The sooner my body is accustomed to these virus variants the better for me everyone around.

I think cars should only have 1 electric window and that's the passenger side so the driver can open/close it without leaning dangerously or needing arms like Mr Tickle (Mr Men). Any others are just extra weight, needless expense and one more thing to go wrong.

However sounds like you never used window lubricant. It's a small aerosol (like spray oil) that has a clear silicone spray. You wind down the windows once a year when getting car ready for winter maybe, spray it in the tracks that the glass slides in. This takes the strain off the motors and everything is better.

Edit: do you remember the days (maybe still today for some people ;) ) when you wound down the window in that special smooth way with as little body movement as possible in the hope someone might think you had a fancy car with electric windows?

I use to agree. I use to hate window motors because I owned nothing but GM cars. Motors would always fail due to voltage drop. Now that I have a different car, no window issues and I like them. I guess they will eventually wear out, but hasn't happened yet.

Let's say the study is valid, the South African variant causes 1% of covid cases. So by the time it becomes prevalent, isn't their already going to be another vaccine?

I thought flu vaccines are a yearly thing and they always change them according to whatever variants they think is the most severe that year, and sometimes they end up getting it wrong cos they are just making the best guesses. And this is with the regular flu vaccine.

mRNA vaccines work differently than the traditional flu vaccine. They do not contain dead or inactive virus parts. Instead, they contain small molecules with specific instructions for a c-19 spike protein.

From my understanding, the only reason we were able to create the first mRNA vaccines is because China isolated and fully sequenced the virus, and shared that data.
