Gotta have some fun!
And 7seconds, can you guess the tune in the background, it's rare, and a hint is in the youtube title.

No way you actually like that garbage. I am 90% sure that noise was made to poke fun of pretension "fans". He is definitely enough of a tool to let his fans make "Beevis and Butthead" fan style asses of themselves.

WTF are you talking about? The music? That’s great improvising there, I hope you know that mofo came up with the melody and guitar solo on spot, it ain’t even close to the album version.
And that training weight is starting get damn respectable, I’ve only been pressing in that fashion for a couple months, I haven’t benched or seated pressed in decades.

I know we have discussed before and we are not going to agree but I will present an argument for him one more time. Pretentious fanboy nonsense incoming.
If only for being so prolific and influential Zappa should be remembered. This man and his music are objectively brilliant as a cornerstone placement in the jazz fusion, serious political music, free jazz, and post-industrial classical timelines.
I'll concede that he's hit and miss in two ways:
1. You either "get" him or you don't in liking his music. It's not a matter of intelligence or elitism to "get" Zappa but rather it's probably a tolerance to weirdness in music.
2. A bulk of his music is REALLY hit, but another portion is also miss. I totally admire him for this because the guy didn't write to please others; he wrote music for himself only and to challenge the audience's ear/ conception of music. That's brave to do because it inevitably leads to publishing tracks that no one else will like.
Incredible conductor. Staunch anti-drug advocate. Fierce intellectual. Not afraid to deviate from the norm boldly. Under-rated guitarist.
Not to mention, his sense of harmony and melody is so beautifully compelling. Pulling from the late-Romantic Webern, feel good R&B doo wap, Indian classical, jazz and Stravinsky's maniacal rhythmic sensibilities, he amalgamates the best of what the 20th century offers him and fashions witty, oft-sardonic, thought provoking, compelling and sometimes just downright catchy tunes.
He gave first record deals to Alice Cooper and Tim Buckley. His band picked up later Duran Duran guitarist Warren Cuccurullo, guitar legend Steve Vai, jazz's George Duke. He gave Jimi Hendrix his first wah pedal, and jammed with Clapton in the 60'S. Not to mention that Zappa is listed as an influence for countless other musicians.
In terms of bandleaders, I'd compare him to Miles Davis without hesitation. He surrounded himself with great musicians, and he pushed them hard. Being able to say, "I played for Zappa" was all the resume those guys needed.

Good post 7 and I'll add because I believe that eomrat's post is actually questioning that I really like this garbage as though I'm picking it to be a dufis.
Zappa had several different types of fan base, some didn't care of his music talent and liked the humor and silliness, and others that only listen to the long guitar solos and instrumental jazz fusion stuff, then there's his Classical side.......
I know eomrat does not care, but when I first started lsitening to classic rock and playing guitar I tried a Zappa album at age 12-13, I thought the guitar was awesome but i was very confused by the music, I was looking for more simple rock so to speak, I said I was not ready for this, after a re-visit many years later the music got better, many albums I've had to listen to over and over and it took a decade to like, I even like his stupid stuff, it's genus in it's own way.
I mean $hit that guitar solo in the vid, I can find at least 10 different versions of that tune, all with a different melody and everyone is a like a 8minute guitar solo, but it's not for someone with a short attention span, most likely, and no you won't experience this at AC/DC concerts which I would call "simple" rock that I was exposed to at age 12-13.
Also his early drummer Dunbar played for Journey and Adrian Belew played for David Bowie I think and Talking Heads, they both played for Zappa, Tina Turner was also in one of his albums "overnight Sensation". And The Temptations.

I don't.
When I first started playing guitar someone insisted Zappa was the greatest. I tried, but I just couldn't like it.
I have respect by association for him. A lot great musicians think he's great, so he must be, just not my thing. Sounds like aimless noodling to me.
Or maybe I haven't listened enough or maybe I've only heard the miss portions. Maybe if I laid on the sofa for an hour and listened with my eyes closed with headphones I'd have an epiphany like I did for John Coltrane.

Well I take Zappa’s music seriously, because it is serious music at the end of the day.
Weird Al is nothing like Zappa as far as musical complexity.
Motzart is serious music but it’s too soft to me, I prefer Edgar verez which was Zappa’s influence, the styles are identical.

Zappa’s catalog is pretty large and it’s easy to find much to dislike; quality control was a bit of an issue. There are definitely albums that are more accessible than others. Lots of good Zappa guitar work on YouTube though.

As a music person myself I know that was very good, personally it’s not my taste but I don’t call it garbage cause it ain’t.
Zappa’s theme to Burnt weenie sandwich isn’t garbage eithier.
When Zappa conducted Lumpy Gravy electrical orchestra the symphony looked at the music and said this BS do you even know what your doing, we can’t do this, Zappa picked up his guitar and played the fuker on his guitar, they then knew they were dealing with someone serious.

Yes Sir, still about vaccines, there has been a bit of a lull so this is a musical interlude until things pick back up.

I did not say all Zappa was garbage, I said that particular garbage that you were listening to was garbage. Random notes played super fast. Also known as garbage. Like I said, I am pretty sure Frank Zappa recorded that to make fun of people like you. I will also wager over 9000 dollars that the only reason that you played it was for our benefit and that you don't actually like that garbage
.

Yes because if I ever listened to Zappa I'd need a vaccine for my ears.

Here is a pretty good live version of that song. The guitar part starts at the 2 minute mark.

I think the best way to appreciate him is live. He wrote his own kind of tablature, which musicians applying to tour with him had to learn how to read. In the audition. His exacting standards are legendary. When you saw him live, you heard exactly what he wanted you to hear.

Christ, I think we actually have found someone on this forum dumber than myself.
When you asked me during my squat video when that was I should’ve just been straight up and told you to look at the post, instead I foolishly told you again Easter, but I guess I’m the dummy.
The Mozart stuff is the same thing, random fuking scales the difference in both is the “key” Zappa stayed in the c#minor and other minor keys. I happen to like improvising the way Zappa did things, sure Mozart may of wrote it first.
I stay up late like every night looking for Zappa music, it’s something I like to do with that little free time, if I didnt like why would find a rare solo like that, hell I can name other titles and dates, if I didn’t like it, how would I know?
Btw Zappa also customized his pickups, somehow, I don’t know how but he had a hard sound from that SG in the late 70s and a watery sound on a Gibson in 81. Plus lots more sounds.
At this point I am just spamming this thread. But Inca roads. Good stuff.

Check out this song. Not difficult to hear what the inspiration was.

If you found even the tiniest similarity between what I posted and anything ever done by Frank Zappa, then you definitely are blowing smoke.

I’m not a musical genius, in fact I’m a complete novice, if that even.
Idk why you can tell me what I like and don’t like.
If Zappa thought that solo was garbage to laugh at me, fine, I’ve listened to that solo about 10 times in the last 2 weeks and I continue to like it.
But something else you don’t know is that I enjoy the very early Mother’s live shows like sleeping in a jar, this goes beyond his guitar stuff, I love the drums and the horns and I really love the annoying voice of Roy Estrada laughing like a lunatic, no other music has that.
I’d love to have a chitty garage band and just do chit like that, but I’m not talented enough, I’m probially a better at lifting.
