Another damn Car-Denier? Sickening... Selfish...
AZ dose 1 yesterday afternoon, felt very tired last night. Woke at 04:00 this morning shivering, got worse and I spent a couple of hours fighting being sick and finally managed to get out of bed at 08:00, feeling sick, headache, slightly dizzy, very painful arm. Had something to eat and drink, had 2 paracetamol (Tylenol) and decided to take day off work. Couple of hours on bed and I feel mostly fine again, back to 90%.
Missed a day's work (and so missed a day's pay) and failed to go to gym this morning. Feeling better and should be able to go to gym tomorrow morning.
Did get side effects from AZ dose, but short lived. Have heard that AZ blood clots (at about 1 person in 1 million) seem to happen mostly women in their 30s who are taking the combined contraceptive pill, so I'm not in a risk category.
Edit: just seen a new study on US data revised the risk of the brain blood clot upwards to about 4 people per million after AZ vaccine
Very scary, OFT. Sending positive vibes that the symptoms subside and you will be 100% soon.

So the governor in my state lied to get people to get shots, he said he felt like he had a burst of energy an could drop and do push ups.
So what’s up with that, why is all of a sudden not a problem for a governor to bs everyone on this? Cause everyone’s scared?
And maybe they did give a B-12, the sheep will not know?

Why the fuk do you turn every post into something political? Tom had a shot and got a reaction, many here also had reactions, additionally, many here had the shot and had no reaction. It's a needle going into a persons arm and their reaction or lack of to it. Got absolutely SFA to do with ones political choice. Some get a reaction some don't. Jesus dude do you eat, sleep and breath politics
24 hrs post 2nd Pfizer shot. Sore right delt.

Hopefully you will be in the clear. Everyone that I personally know who has had sides have had them start w/in a day. Just talked to someone who was off for 2 days due to sides from second dose, but they said on the second day the sides cleared up pretty much instantly around midday.

Hopefully you already feel better! What you're reporting sound fairly common and to be expected given how this vaccine works.
Sucks that you missed out on pay! Self-employed? Otherwise, you should have sick leave! :(

Tom, hope your issues resolve soon.
Good news. My first shot was fatigue the first night, then site soreness only. Felt crappier after #2 but resolved in a day. Despite the naysayers, there's good evidence out there that you have significantly reduced risk of getting COVID and transmitting it (and virtually none of stuff like clots).

I am 90% sure you have taken the Plague vaccine. Can you believe all these stupid anti-vaxxers that haven't taken the Plague vaccine?
And don't even get me started on all these ignorant anti-vaxxers who haven't gotten the Anthrax series. They are so dumb. Also, the jerks that don't even have the common decency to get vaccinated against smallpox.
They are so stupid and we are so smart. I feels so good to be better than those anti-science crazies.

LOL I'm actually kind of jealous of some of those bioweapon vaccines you guys got (srs). I've read that the smallpox vaccines that US stockpiles for emergency use are more than 50 years old. Hopefully they give you guys fresh stuff.

Classic.

new study eh... friend of ours got to hospital with thrombosis something-something (whatever they call it). Turned out she had un-diagnosed autoimmune condition. And apparently vaccination is no-no for those who has autoimmune condition.

I hope you get over this quickly, I know a lot of people that had the AZ jab, I don't recall anyone that experienced such extreme side affects, it's pretty crap when you have to take time off work.
On the positive side, I suspect you've had a strong immune response.
The BBC news reported about a week ago, the risk of blood clots had been revised to 1 in 240,000.

This literally made me laugh out loud. I can't rep you again just yet but I will.
Thanks all for well wishes.
Was very short lived illness. Back in the gym this morning. Even OHP just an empty bar hurts left arm (just have to man up and make some determined faces) otherwise I'm fully recovered
I have a question for all of you that feel like commenting. Last night on Bill Maher's show he continued his endless rant on doctors not mentioning obesity as an epidemic in this covid crisis. He called out doctors and politicians for not attacking the fact that 78% of those hospitalized during this crisis were obese. Now while I agree with reducing the 42% of obese Americans I feel like it is a long term goal not a short term one. It seems to take folks forever to lose 20 pounds let alone 50 or more. I just don't see drastic changes with friends and family let alone my fellow gym attendees. I think this is a much harder task and not a quick fix for most people. The gf and I debated this last night after the show ended and I wonder what your take on the subject is?

Interesting, I've heard just the opposite that people with auto-immune should be at the front of the line for a vaccine because their immune system can't fight this off like most people. Do you have a link by chance?
During the first wave, I was pleased there was a poster campaign here to encourage people to lose weight. I thought this would finally break the grip of the HAEW (healthy at every weight) campaign that made people scared to discuss body fat levels in terms of health in case it was seen as discriminatory (or even twisted into accusations of racism!)
Unfortunately, here anyway, that seems to have been left behind and it disappeared and discussion of weight isn't happening
Mask in the gym has been a royal PITA for me. Like you said it gets soaked in sweat and wearing a gaiter has only been slightly better.

Bro code present at my gym too although like you we have one mask nazi girl behind the counter. She's new and when she does a floor check she will come up and say something. I think she's on a power trip. If I was a dck I'd tell her to look around and you will see masks on and off all over the gym. To the best of my knowledge not a single case has been traced back to our gym...

Every day for a year Dr. Fauci has said over and over again to wash my hands like a broken record but mentioned obesity like once.
It's pretty weird because usually when you go to see a doctor to complain about anything, they most likely tell you to lose weight. So it's weird this time they were so quiet, it would literally taken a few extra seconds to include that to his speech.
Losing weight is not that hard, it's just keeping it off that's difficult so it's not something you'd do just for a pandemic but for life. No point losing tons of weight is you just gonna gain it right back.
I didn't see any Bill Maher rant though because I don't watch TV.

Correct, keeping it off is the key just in case variant number B.999 pops up. It is hard for me to think of any person in my circle that isn't a workout freak or always on a diet that has had long term success. I just don't see a plan anywhere with the food lobby, the freedoms lobby, and the health care industry intersecting.

Well there’s no money to be made if people lose weight and the associated medical conditions like BP, diabetes etc. The general public would rather pay for a script than put in the effort to do it.
I think the average age of death from COVID in the US is 78.6 years old, which is also the average age of death without COVID. Maybe they should have a don’t get old campaign too.
Nothing easier than losing weight. Everyone wants to act like there is some secret they don't know or as if that task of eating less is impossible. People just have no willpower and self control.

It would difficult to do pull-ups as a tall person. Usually when I see women do pull-ups, they are small and usually have very small lower bodies.

I don't think I've ever seen any women do pull-ups except for myself :) (edit: IRL..I do see on YouTube)
But Kim posted a video of doing 5 single arm pull-ups (where you hold your wrist with the other hand) and I tried it and could do only two.

I’ve noticed an increase in younger females actually training. Not many doing pull-ups, but a lot of them do actually lift rather than just weird floor exercises or rolling around on a balance ball. Of the younger crowd at my gym, the females seem to be training more effectively than most of the dudes who just bench and do curls every day.
The new girl I just hired at work lifts, and seems pretty strong & knowledgeable.
