I got really sick from the second shot and booster--high fever and chills for days--so I don't want to take another booster.
Same here. It was like having the flu.
To top it off for me was my sense of smell went crazy, clean plates smelled like a wet dog.
My mom had a stroke 10+ years ago and has been on a lot of meds. Over the years, she recovered well, but never 100%. She had her shots and got a booster early summer. Things really started going downhill after the booster. By downhill, I mean now basically a vegetable.
Maybe it's just a coincidence, but the timing is suspect.

was unaware masks were still a thing
Just came in to laugh at the vaxcels in this thread.
Imagine thinking it was smart to take an untested experimental shot for a virus slightly stronger than the common cold.
Imagine thinking it was a good idea to try and force people to take an ineffective shot or lose their livelihoods.
Dumb branch Covidian fools

Congrats my friend, I got mine this summer, had the last one in August.
Did you have any side effects from it?
The first one knocked me on my ass, second was nothing, not even a sore arm..

Just a sore arm, didn't really notice. I'm not getting that nightmare affliction.

The (thankfully) small number of people I knew who died from COVID and could have otherwise expected to live some more years were clearly my just imagination?
But your statistics don't account for the people who were fairly ill but didn't die but their health is *still* ruined with tiredness, muscle pains, digestive issues, difficulty concentrating, shortness of breath. My wife knows 3 people like that
Could it be possible to have a pandemic that ruins health that is not always fatal? Or is it a case that medicine and illness is only 100% healthy or dead and nothing in-between exists or matters?
If you feel that COVID was exaggerated, that's an opinion... but to persuade others you'll need to produce some stats not just relating to excess deaths but also some measure of general health. To categorise the effects of disease in only terms of dead/not dead would mean polio (which kills very few) is probably fake too... actually Polio is topical where I live, maybe that's a thread in itself?
One thing for sure, COVID is definitely a political football that gets kicked around the field in every direction
Oh.. got a flu vaccine last week, I did the trick of totally relaxing triceps and even gentle pummeling it to relax even more, arm really floppy dangling down. Barely even felt the injection and turned to watch but she'd already done it! had to look at syringe to check it was done I was that unsure. Definitely 100% relaxed arm works! 3rd time I tried it, 3rd time it worked
The (thankfully) small number of people I knew who died from COVID and could have otherwise expected to live some more years were clearly my just imagination?
My dad and two of my colleagues were in good health, albeit old, when they died of COVID and would very very likely still be alive today otherwise. One of my colleagues led 250 kayak trips the year before he died and was one of the most physically active people I knew of any age.
I try to stay out of these conversations, but I'm grieved and ashamed of my people. I'm a right-wing, conservative, church-going Republican and it's mostly my people who are spreading the vaccine misinformation. When Trump was president and the vaccines were being developed, preachers were publicly praying and declaring that a vaccine would come soon. After a Democrat was elected, those same people opposed vaccines and spread wacky conspiracies. That's even though Trump still promotes the vaccines and takes credit for them.
It has deadly consequences.

I'm not getting boosted nor have I or will I get my 11 and 10 year old vaxxed unless I see people dropping dead in the streets from it. We are done. I do need to get the shingles vax but with the sides I'm dragging my feet doing it.

Here’s some misinformation that I hear all the time, which is people publicly saying that they will get vaccinated to protect someone else. That is 100 percent crock of ****!
Now for some facts, I know people with covid right now, with symptoms who have had 3 or more boosters.
If you wanna get vaccinated, that’s your choice and it may ease symptoms or may not but it’s not going to protect someone else.
Distrust in the government is why many minorities have low vaccination rates. I can't blame them after the CDC used them as guinea pigs.

Really?
A booster was given after the original series of shot or shots..
in the case of Moderna or Pfizer the 1st booster would have been the 3rd shot.
For those who took a single shot dose (astrazeneca) their 2nd shot
So what you are saying is that you know people who had 6 shots or more?
From everything I have read is that the bivalent dose which just became available would be a person's 4th shot.
I haven't read anything on people getting more than one booster.
Really?

Biden is double boosted.
Also the CDC says to get the latest booster, so if you got the first booster but not the latest, they say get the latest. If you skipped the old booster, you get less shots.

Precisely.
I have never met an unjabbed dood who regrets NOT taking that poison.

Why don't we collectively just say "FK COVID" for all the harm (or not if that's your opinion) and just let's talk about workouts instead, you know: like the old days...

Plenty of room for talking about training, in fact there is a complete OV35 forum just for that

This is a sub forum of that section for Miscellaneous Topics.
You can always scroll on by the threads you don't like though.
Or better still start some threads about Workouts :D

I still believe strength training is the best way to combat Rona.
I said Strength training which doesn’t always mean being the leanest dude with ab separation or being just physically active playing volley ball, hiking and Kayaking. Just my OP.

If you aren't a fat lazy fuk you can combine many cardio vascular activities in conjunction with strength training and get even more benefits from health and fitness. Not just my opinion, it's a fact baby :D

I have. Neighbor who didn't do well with COVID but is still working as much as he can. Harsh not having his old cardiac and pulmonary capacity since he's a farmer and does hard physical work at times.
The only other person I knew who might say they regret not getting was my conspiracy theorist cousin who it didn't survive it.
Our anecdotal data doesn't add much.

I found out last week that covid went through the house of a friend of mine, the entire family of 5 got it, 1 died, another still on a vent, they were the only 2 that weren't vaccinated. The other 3 had a hard time with it but never had to go to the hospital. I bet the other two would regret not getting vaccinated.
There are plenty of stories like that but you can't expect too much out of the tin foil hat crew.
i just read about another set of experiments 50's -70's

Being fat and strong wasn’t the point pancake, although there are exceptions, fat Olympic lifters are probably better off than fat bench pressers or fat power lifters eg half squatters.
You can use strength training for both cardio vascular benefits AND getting stronger and use that to gain better health than the non-lifter active person. Running and playing a game does very little to treat bone loss, which is part of the problem in aging.

I don't know if anyone ever told you this, but you appear to be a lot brighter before you start flapping your gums about things you know nothing about. You have a lot to learn there dumpling. You can start by listening more, the ears don't work when your tongue is wagging.

I said they do very little, not zero, but little, little, little.
Take any of those activities and as people age, they will not progress, give them some weights and they will get bigger stronger faster. Bodyweight exercise also counts as weights.
My point AGAIN is running is not strength training. Strength training is best for immunity and healing. Strong people recover faster. Looks aren’t the key eg six packs aren’t a sign of health but not having a abs doesn’t make one fat eithier.

You're an idiot.
You think lifting weights is the answer to everything and you're not even that knowledgeable about it or good at it.
