So my 2nd dose Pfizer was way better in terms of adverse events than my first. Some of my MD friends would say this could be due to having had asymptomatic Covid at some point. Either way in two weeks I am living my life nearly as nor Al with others who are vaxed and the thought of that is very nice.
So my 2nd dose Pfizer was way better in terms of adverse events than my first...
Not aware of any study, just anecdotally: heard it from 10 people and yet to hear anyone say the second was worse or also bad. The first one made them feel ill and the second one nowhere near as bad, both Pfizer and AZ.
Had my first on April 15th but can't get a date for my second any earlier than July 1st (exactly 11 weeks). There's most likely a lot of people who need their 1st more than I need my 2nd, so I can hang in there

That's what I hear for this neck of the woods. Two weeks after the second dose and no masks or social distancing will be required.
I wonder if the people I see walking outside wearing masks AND face shields will catch on.

Most I know are hit harder their second dose, and I believe that is what clinical data shows. Maybe JustDad can chime in.
What my doc friends as told me in general terms is first exposure gives your body the blueprint of what to look for, 2nd exposure it fights the virus and therefore more side effects. Why some would theorize that someone that sees more side effects on the first dose might have been exposed already.
All of that simply what I am hearing from people talking around me. To be clear I don't know the validity of those thoughts.

Can't add much to that. You're spot on. Fever, chills, and other systemic symptoms were more common after the second shot of Pfizer or Moderna. I'm not sure about localized arm pain. Don't know the details of Sputnik's side effects.
Whether or not some of the people having a lot of systemic symptoms after their first dose were previously exposed to the virus is something a lot of us speculate on. I haven't see any data proving it, and remember, all the people in the trials were tested before they enrolled. Some of them had symptoms after the first shot with nothing to indicate prior exposure, so maybe it's genetic, maybe it's cross reactivity to some other virus they had as a kid but to which their antibody titers already became undetectable, maybe it's something else. I don't haven't seen a good explanation. Sorry.

What are you talking about, you can certainly be unvaccinated and go just about anywhere without a mask.
........even if you are vaccinated you still have to wear a fuking mask on planes and public transportation, that’s why I said the whole freedom talk is BS....
Have fun when corporate sends y’all to visit your new boss Chyna, on a plane wearing a fuking mask the entire 20 hour flight, better hope you don’t have a mishap and take that mask off of a minute, they’ll kick your azz off in the middle of the ocean.

What am I talking about? I'm talking about Quebec where there are curfews and where people get arrested for not wearing masks in stores.
Apparently, the above will end on May, 28.
If I'm gonna be in the air for 20 hours, I have better destinations than China. :)

I was worse after my second dose of Pfizer, not significantly, but noticeable none the less.

Wearing masks will be with us for ever. Enjoy your fashion statement

Local DC news radio(wtop@ 2:30pm) said that Hawaii is the only state left in the country with mask laws still remaining on the books, the rest expired or expire on May 28th 2021.
I had my first maskless gym workout in a year and it was better than expected.

1. cooler
2. faster recovery between sets, more oxygen
3. longer workout, more endurance
4. more pleasant experience generally

Same here. 2nd dose of Moderna produced a 101 degree temp about 24 hours post jab. Felt pretty chitty most of the day. Woke up the next day like nothing ever happened.

Minister was just talking about losing his job due to not being vaxxed. I am assuming his employer isn't using an honor system for those decisions. All the HCOs I contract with will not use an honor system either.
But yes, probably stepping into a sporting goods store nobody will be asking to see a vaxxed tattoo.

I have friends in Ontario, last I heard they're still in lockdown, meanwhile not even a mask mandate here. RIP to them.
Mask law is gone in live free or die NH. My local supermarket took their sign down too.
Until they ask for proof. Do what thy will.
Turns out a huge portion of those that do not want to get vaccinated are aged 18-23 (Gen Z).
Must those anti-vaxxing, conservative politics they hold that some people like to blame it on.

I think gen Z, in my experience from some recent classes, seem to be a very skeptical and educated generation...is there hope...
In b4 the flood of "see... we told you pfizer was DEADLY". The second person, who was also the first man to receive it was very elderly (OK not as old as the first person) and has sadly passed away. I am sure this will start a flood of "killer vaccine" posts.

So this weekend I went to several places without a mask and most places are not advertising that they allow you in as long as you are vaxxed.I would estimate 5/100 are mask free even though the state is at 40%. The signs are ambiguous, and not updated. I had to ask employees at 3 different places because it wasn't clear what the stores policy was.
Places where no mask is needed when vaccinated.
Safeway, Giant food, Home Depot, Costco
Mask Still required
Chipotle
Small mom and pop pharmacy
5 guys
Unlike many of the people who died after getting COVID? Furthermore, we know that COVID related death were overreported by hospitals seeking income. (And yes, before I'm called all kinds of names, I do happen to know people who died from COVID related illness)
I fully understand the initial concern when this virus was coming over from China's lab in Wuhan and becoming a pandemic. But 10-12 months into this, the approach should have been much more concentrated and targeted, while society re-opened. Instead, it became a political bludgeon against anyone who suggested opening back up. We will never know the extent of the lock down related deaths. I know one of those too.

My wife was the director of social work in a Nursing Home through the brunt of the Pandemic. She came home crying almost every night and she's pretty tough, held the hands of dozens of dying people as they passed. Before covid they were rolling out maybe 1 bodybag every six weeks, during covid they were rolling out a dead person every day.
Yeah, maybe they were faking that for political reasons? LO fukking L.

Hysteria you say? You see what’s happening in India?
People taking oxygen in the streets.
People at doctors and hospitals begging for the overwhelmed medical staff to look at their loved ones
Masses and massed sick with covid. In some cases I hear entire villages getting covid
That’s what the lockdowns avoided in most of the rest of the world and here in US. But no we gotta bitch and bitch without realizing how good we got it here.
If you can’t see it dunno what to say. Continue living in your own lil world
Yes, businesses took advantage of the situation and made some money...I guess the people up there know this is going to happen and is happening but they actually turn a blind eye to such idiots so that the masses can get what they deserve/need

Oh, was your hospital too busy making TikTok dance videos as well?
Cause they weren’t full of Covid patients, we know that for sure.
Hell even the ship Trump brought into NY, only 77 beds were used & it was turned away after a few weeks
Yeah for sure people haven't gotten their check ups. Even if they would be able to, many were scared. Also a coworker was getting ready to get a knee surgery just before covid and he still hasn't gotten it. Now it has to do with the fact that his insurance got changed.

We didn’t wanna go scared of covid haha
Even now we try to do telehealth if needed
I got a friend whose a doc in the ER and he did say they saw only a couple really terrible covid cases and he didn’t hospitalize that many.
Regardless I know people / people who know people who suffered / died from covid.
It’s real
I still support the lockdowns but they should’ve done a better job thinking of all of the above plus more and had campaigns to minimize the long term effects.
I still think if the entire world turned into India like situation it would’ve been game over for many more
