Fully vaccinated 36 Yo dies of COVID

Local fully vaxxed politician has breakthrough covid case -doesn't count yet though unless he ends up hospitalized or dead...
Yeah i read that one a few days ago about the SWA flight attendant, and wondered if through his job he contacted Lambda or some other variant with international travel.
Glad the politician is ok, this chit is so random.

Yep, vaccinated or not its a random outcome. The symptoms also vary wildly in the similar demographics. Overall, it is a low mortality rate disease for lower risk populations, and the odds are much better for vaccinated people, but in the end it’s just going to be what it’s going to be.

So met another acquaintance today at a store after a while. Young 38 yr old healthy girl - perfect weight for her height prolly.
Anyhow, she said dunno how the covid vs vaccine stats are being thrown around. She got covid and it sucked Ballz for her but she pulled through ok. She got pneumonia after covid also. Inflamed lungs and heart - felt like someone was pushing on her upper chest she said.
Anyhow getting back to the point, she said she went to the doc three times during her recovery and not once was she asked if she’s vaccinated.
So she was wondering how they hell they’re coming up with the numbers that they are…
I don’t give two fuks about it - just throwing this out there :)
Edit: no, she wasn’t vaccinated

Was she vaccinated? I'm not surprised they don't ask about vaccination status. That could result in "anti-science" data.
The important thing is BOOSTERS FOR ALL!!! Remember, if you don't get your booster(s) you are an antivaxxer.

No she wasn’t.
And yea I saw that yesterday - apprently they’re gonna announce everyone needs boosters 8 months after the last shot. We’ll see…a day at a time. So tired of this chit! But also realize this is a new developing situation so dunno really what to say.

I'd say they should start collecting data on breakthrough cases in vaccinated people so they can make informed decisions on the efficacy of the vaccine options, especially since they based this decision on data that Fauci just rebuked on TV (ironic). I'm not sure if it's time since vaccination as much as delta variant differences, from the data available, it looks like the Moderna and J&J are providing more robust protection than Pfizer. The former head of the FDA who permits the vaccine on an emergency use basis, Dr. Gottlieb(sp?) is on the board of directors for Pfizer. He will likely slide back into a Director role at the FDA before too long, that's just how these things work. He has been pretty honest and accurate though in his assessments, which I respect.

Sounds like Novavax is the most robust against new variants. Still doing my research.

Since no one trusts anyone's data this is just a FYI, do with it what you want.
"Though breakthrough COVID-19 cases have much lower hospitalization and mortality rates than infections among the unvaccinated, the Delta variant has led to more cases than anticipated. In late July, a *****leaked document from the CDC revealed there were around 35,000 symptomatic COVID infections per week among the fully vaccinated ********(though the agency has not yet confirmed that data)."

I'd believe both accounts, do you have a link? They stopped tracking "breakthrough" cases that do not result in death or hospitalization in May IIRC Keep in mind the risk of hospitalization is low overall, but significantly higher in elderly/immunocompromised. The vaccines do seem to reduce the risk of sever disease in higher risk groups, but some are appearing to be more effective than others, specifically Moderna and J&J in the US, which are also used far less than Pfizer. If we were going to "trust the science" a good place to start would be for the CDC, FDA to be forthcoming with information pertinent to that end. Many people who are fully vaccinated are continuing to drive infections because they have completely abandoned critical thinking (as evident ITT.) In fact, there were reports of vaccinated but symptomatic people attending Lollapalooza because "they were vaccinated, so they couldn't be sick from covid".

Pretty good quick comparative analysis. Chicagoland was a big orange blob, only second to S. CA  The vaccination rate for the state of IL is high (52%) because the Chicagoland region is highly vaccinated. Like 70% of eligible adults or something like that.
Luckily no mask mandates here for the gym (yet), only "strongly recommended". I continue to carryon, wear my mask when required, but otherwise just living life like every second is precious.

President Joe Biden's administration confirmed late on Tuesday it plans to extend requirements for travelers to wear masks on airplanes, trains and buses and at airports and train stations through Jan. 18 to address ongoing COVID-19 risks.

An Alabama doctor watched patients reject coronavirus vaccine; now he’s refusing to treat them
In Alabama, where the nation’s lowest vaccination rate has helped push the state closer to a record number of hospitalizations, a physician has sent a clear message to his patients: Don’t come in for medical treatment if you are unvaccinated.
Jason Valentine, a physician at Diagnostic and Medical Clinic Infirmary Health in Mobile, Ala., posted a photo on ******** this week of him pointing to a sign taped to a door informing patients of his new policy coming Oct. 1.
-
Hello everyone, I will definitely be vaccinated with the Modern vaccine, in a week, I hope everything will go smoothly. In our city, they promise not to let unvaccinated people anywhere, neither in a cafe nor in a restaurant, not to work. Therefore, while there is an opportunity to get vaccinated, I will do it.

Don’t they take an oath to treat those in need?
But then docs should have freedom to choose just like anti vaxxers and all of us also do. No?

Having to provide vaccination proof more and more these days to organizations my company contracts with. One vendor even says no exemptions. RIP unvaxxedcels.

You should get a really cool trapper keeper to organize all of your papers. Want to make sure you can find all the boosters in the correct order.

From the WaPo article
"We do not yet have any great treatments for severe disease, but we do have great prevention with vaccines. Unfortunately, many have declined to take the vaccine, and some end up severely ill or dead. I cannot and will not force anyone to take the vaccine, but I also cannot continue to watch my patients suffer and die from an eminently preventable disease," the letter says. "Therefore, as of October 1st, 2021, I will no longer see patients that have not been vaccinated against COVID-19. If you wish to keep me as your physician, documentation of your vaccination will suffice. If you wish to choose another physician, we will be happy to transfer your records."
Seems like a logical, common sense explanation regarding his decision. He is a family doctor and treats all ages, I imagine it is fairly common practice for pediatricians and family doctors to not accept patients and families that don't vaccinate. It would make sense... Last thing you want is whooping cough or some preventable disease ripping through your office because Karen’s holistic baby treatment regiment and crystal imbued moonwater bathes didn't keep Timmy from becoming a little plague bomb.
