You’re completely misunderstanding the concept of absolute reduction and the point of the vaccine trial. The trial was how many individuals were infected over a given time, not some maximum proportion of the population that can be infected. The higher the proportion of hosts infected, the higher the absolute reduction will be. For example, if the trial continued and 3 times the number of hosts ended up infected, you’d expect 24/22k in the vaccinated with group with PCR confirmed Covid and 486/22k in unvaccinated group. That is an absolute reduction of 2%. Now extrapolate to 1/3 of the entire country having pcr confirmed covid, and you can see how big that absolute reduction grows.

After my terrible response to the 2nd Moderna dose I'm still having weird stuff 6 weeks later. When I'm in my house I can often smell fuel oil burning inefficiently, it's a unique smell and I checked my hot water heater and there's no exhaust leaks. I smelled a skunk on the way to a medical appt. with My Daughter and smelled it for 15 miles, no one else smells these things.

Slightly sore arm. Been feeling 95% fine. Slightly dizzy but not. Slightly tired but not. Slightly flu-ish but not.

Think of a virus where 70% of kids are totally asymptomatic, less than 1% have severe symptoms, and less than 0.05% die. That's no big deal for kids then, right?

I don’t think the comparisons to polio are all that effective these days. Vaccine effectiveness has almost been vaccines worst enemy. People today don't remember how bad these diseases were. People forget that kids died, became deaf, suffered infertility, etc...all from 'childhood diseases' like measles and mumps. Polio also had the benefit of not coming across as a different strain of the flu. Something we are super accustomed too. Polio was a very different disease and wasn’t as easily dismissed as something else similar but less severe.

The first measles vaccine was in 1963. I don’t have any numbers to really back this up as I only spent about 30 seconds looking but a “virtually non-existent number of cases long before the vaccine” seems to be a stretch. It seems measles deaths were certainly declining due to advancements in medicine and supportive care but I didn’t see anything that showed number of cases dropping until the vaccine became available.

Kept waking up from the sore arm (much worse than first shot) and headache - should’ve taken Advil or something. Slight fatigue and lethargy. Besides that all good.

My chicks sister got her 2nd shot a day before me and she has similar symptoms as me minus the headache.

While you are correct on cellular mediated immunity in that T and helper T lymphocytes are where we get extended immune response, you must not understand that this occurs in post-infection immunity as well as from many vaccine induced immune responses. Macro****es are not cell mediated or antigen specific, cell mediated immune response is. Not sure on the covid shots, but I’d guess that it would be if your body is making an antigen which triggers essentially a natural immune response.

I can’t believe all the anti Vaxxers. I went to four stores today and everyone was wearing a mask but me. I guess we are not following the CDC science now :confused:

Edit to add: There is a nasty cold traveling around right now. My kids had it most of last week and were wrecked, wife has it now and is wrecked (sore throat, headache, congestion, cough etc.) pretty much COVID symptoms. So far I’ve dodged it. I slept on the couch last night, wife refuses to wear her mask in the house :D. This cold burned through our kids school, my sisters kids had it 30 miles away no contact with us, my parents had it 200 miles away no contact with us, so don’t be surprised when it visits near you. I hope I can dodge it, I have too much going on right now at work.
