I read that last week and it seems that a few factors are in play
1. when you got your shot... it degrades after 3 months
2. your response to it, antibodies
3. what other weakening medical issues do you have.
I think they all get Pfizer there, so it doesnt last as long as Moderna.
You people that are getting these boosters where do you draw the line and say "enough"? It just seems that it'll be a never ending situation.

Like the flu shot?
Listen, I'm in your side w/mandates being stupid, masks being worthless, and shutdowns needing to stop. In the beginning I was onboard with 2 of those but 2 years later we have much more data. IMO we need to accept the fact that this thing is with us and just open up completely. What I don't understand is why you, and people who think like you, give a fuk about what those of us that got vaxxed/booster are doing (same for those who care what the unvaxxed are doing - stfu)
So to answer your question I'll gladly get a yearly booster, just like I do for the flu. Not because I'm scared but because its inconvenient to get either of those. You are free to do you but at 70 years old I'd think it's in your best interest to take both, but in no way should you be forced.

What you mean enough? Some people get the flu shot every year. When are y'all gon realize that we are not afraid of the vaccine? Yes, flu is never ending situation.
I'm probably not going to get yearly shot as I never got the flu shot either in the past but who knows at this point.

Agree, with most of this. That said you’re fully vaxxed and seemingly had worse symptoms from catching covid than my wife who is fully unvaxxed. So boosters yearly or every three months, they are not working very well right now. Obviously there can be no arguments made on comparing your self described symptoms versus my wife’s. That said, vaccinations and hospitalizations for covid are both at record highs, so that is a larger sample size to draw conclusions on efficacy of the vaccines. They don’t work well, but we just keep going along with them despite the constantly moving goal posts on what they intend to achieve…I don’t care what anybody does, I’m a little salty about having to get vaxxed though, we have a mandate coming out for work, and my area it is mandatory for many places. I just refuse to spend money anywhere with mandates, despite being vaccinated. Not providing my medical info to go to a restaurant, gym etc.

Heard this morning that Pfizer, Moderna and others are looking at combining flu and Covid vaccines for annual shots.
Actually, not a bad idea. I have never had a flu shot in my life, but I will consider if the Rona shot is combined for the convenience.

Every year is less that 4X per year. But agree, you have to make your own personal medical decisions they shouldn’t be coerced. At your age, getting frequent vaccines for colds and flu might be advisable :p (kidding).

Wouldn't you have to be against the vax in the first place to have that mindset? I don't think people getting the vax are against getting the vax. LoL. But perhaps someone who felt forced into it may start feeling rustled by boosters.

Ya know...it's weird but I don't feel old at all. People ask me all the time how old I am but I don't know why everyone always needs to put a number. Like why? If you think you are young, you're going to look and feel young. If you think you're going to get sick, you will. It's law of attraction. I bet you you know folks in your life who always are sick or hurting and they complain. They cause it for themselves I truly think so. However, if you see someone who is "old" but never says he hurts, is sick or old, that person will look young!!

It really isn't something that occupies a lot of time or thought, seriously.

I haven't had as much as a cold since 1985 so my gut feeling is that my immune system is in a position to handle things on its own. I'm one of those that besides age, has the bases covered otherwise. Agree, watched a documentary about the “law of attraction” was interesting and seemingly true. Also met a chatty dude a year or two ago at Morton Arboretum (big outdoor tree / nature area). Anyway this guy started talking to my wife, kids and I about the park and how great it was to see a family out enjoying things like that. He worked or volunteered there just walking around miles a day and talking to people about the trees and attractions (giant wooden trolls when we were there). Anyway turns out the guy was 94 years old  he made us guess his age, but he seriously did not look a day over 60 and he attributed it to feeling/acting young and staying active (walking 5-10 miles/day). A lot of truth to that imo.

Simple, I'll keep an eye on the science (The real stuff, not the media version) and as long as the risk/reward tradeoff looks good then I'll get the shot. It's going to be very similar to the yearly Influenza shot.

Israeli study shows 4th shot of COVID-19 vaccine less effective on Omicron
JERUSALEM, Jan 17 (Reuters) - A fourth shot of COVID-19 vaccine boosts antibodies to even higher levels than the third jab but it is not enough to prevent Omicron infections, according to a preliminary study in Israel.
Israel's Sheba Medical Center has given second booster shots in a trial among its staff and is studying the effect of the Pfizer booster in 154 people after two weeks and the Moderna booster in 120 people after one week, said Gili Regev-Yochay, director of the Infectious Diseases Unit.
These were compared to a control group that did not receive the fourth shot. Those in the Moderna group had previously received three shots of Pfizer's vaccine, the hospital said.
The vaccines led to a increase in the number of antibodies "even a little bit higher than what we had after the third dose", said Regev-Yochay.
"Yet, this is probably not enough for the Omicron," she told reporters. "We know by now that the level of antibodies needed to protect and not to got infected from Omicron is probably too high for the vaccine, even if it's a good vaccine."
The findings, which the hospital said were the first of its kind in the world, were preliminary and not yet published.
Israel was the fastest country to roll out initial vaccinations against COVID-19 a year ago and last month started offering a fourth shot, or a second booster, to the most vulnerable and high-risk groups.

We all will respond differently and lifestyle plays a role. The worst cold I can remember having was after running that Smolov squat program. My body was so beat after that my immune system wasn't ready to fight it.
I don't know if the vaccines work or not but the people who have spent most of their lives studying this exact thing say they do and my ass didn't even finish his Masters so who am I :D
My wife, fully vaxxed, wasn't as bad as I was either and my kids not vaxxed hardly knew they had anything. I don't know what to make of it all at this point. I did roll today at noon and my wind was gone. I'm rolling again tonight so hopefully a bit better. I need to remember to eat though because not tasting anything makes me not care. Which if we could find a way to stop taste and smell for a while that we have the perfect obesity drug :D
The problem is what is the "real" science.
That is a problem. I don't think public health has been this politicised, partisan, money driven and dishonest since the great debate on whether long term smoking raises the risk of various lung diseases or not.
That went on for years and years with both sides funding research to disprove the other. Does that mean medicine and doctors were useless during that time?
Sometimes you need to step back from the BS and hype (both sides!!!). We're all going to have to be adults and use common sense, maybe the truth isn't either of the extremes (it will kill everyone without a mask/it's only a cold) and maybe somewhere in the middle. The real science is out there amongst all the BS, you've got to use your nose and do the sniff test

I'm down for a yearly unless the science changes. I don't have an answer that is set in stone. I'm doing my best to follow the science here and as such my kids aren't vaxxed nor will I get them vaxxed unless the science changes and the risk/reward makes sense.
But its frustrating for sure. First the Trump admin made it seem like it was nothing and then shut us down, then downplayed it and pretended it would go away. Now Biden and his team only talk about it and make it seem like its the worst thing ever and we are all going to die unless the vaccines is taken, and we get boosted, and we get more of them.
My father was like you, never got sick, like ever. But he had so much crap pumped in him from Vietnam and then Dessert Storm who knows what was going on. He also never ever got the flu shot and would have skipped this one too. He died of an accident but was 100% healthy when he did in his mid 60's. Sometimes its just like that. I don't get sick very often and when I do it's usually because I'm over working myself. At least up until now so hopefully I have the same luck you've had going forward.

JTB I think it’s the luck of the draw genetically. Ill tell you though when I did get the flu in ‘85 it was a 4 week ordeal SOOOOO sick. I named it the Truck Flu because you’d swear you got run over by a semi. I think that bout jacked my immune system up to where it was invincible , lol.
If you go to a gym the best thing you can do is not go face down on equipment like the leg curl machine and not touch your eyes , mouth or nose. I keep a spray bottle of alcohol in my truck and as soon as I get in after working out I spray my hands and arms down.

Too funny I have a bottle of alcohol in my vehicle too. I use it for my legs and feet after rolling. My lifting gyms equipment probably hasnt been cleaned since 1973. I've probably built up quite an immune system just lifting there.

Sounds like you might have got OG covid IDK. With the first one I got I don’t remember losing my taste or smell but had zero appetite for like a week. I thought it was awesome cause it was January, I was dieting, and didn’t know it was covid until a couple months later when the real symptoms were known. Yeah being over trained/under recovered is going to reduce your ability to heal / fight an infection etc.
Agree with females handling being sick better than men. Chicks are just tougher, probably has something to do with being able to have babies IDK. Glad you are back to doing your thing. Don’t be surprised if you get gassed and tired pretty quick for a bit.

If you lost your sense of smell, you might want to get or make a smell retraining kit. You can buy a kit for $25, or you can buy enough of the scents to make 20 for the same price. Other than cloves, the scents are all pretty nice.
Or I can dig up the stuf I bought a year ago and see if I have what's needed to make and send you one if you'd like.
