Hmm interesting, never seen (not that I did much research) a murder charge with no intent.
I had not either.
But, there it is in MN
Edit: Probably we had both heard of murder without intent, but didn't really think of it that way...the felony murder rule
Fug...your thoughts on this whole Gerald Floyd incident?
I'm going to guess the whole country will riot if those officers are not charged at least 2nd degree murder. The last video I've seen in which police were OBVIOUSLY in the wrong was Rodney King but yeah....we all know what happened after that
My thoughts are this, any Officer with 19 years experience should know how to conduct himself under a stressful situation. The situation seemed to be well under control, the subject was cuffed and compliant.
And from my understanding MN Police Officers are taught this tactic in the academy and it's still allowed today for control and subject safety. Was it right, or justified? I wasn't there and none of us were prior to what we seen on the video. But I bet this will make its way to every Law Enforcement Training Academy.

...because we didn't already know standing on a handcuffed guy's neck for 7 minutes, with the assistance of two other officers to hold the cuffed guy down, including standing on his neck after he's unconscious, is a bad idea.

We used to be able to choke inmates to keep them from swallowing something, that went away after a few crushed wind pipes. Sometimes a tragic event is needed to bring a change.
Now we just let them swallow whatever it is and wait for them to poop it out.

If the line is "the police all thought it was okay to do this" it's no wonder so many people want to kill them/fear for their lives when police show up, Christ

We used to have tasers, until someone tazed a guy who was wet (in a shower) and killed him; we lost our tazers. We used to be able to use deadly force on fist fights if the inmates didn't immediately get down when ordered, no longer.
As times change so do policies, but sometimes the changes lag behind.

Like I said, their department allows this type of control on a subject. The question is, why was this type of force needed. Did something happen prior that warranted it, was a weapon recovered etc.

The police department told us 2 days ago no weapons were used by anyone in the incident.
Are you really this ignorant about the thing you are pretending to tell us about?
Don't answer that

Stick to asking how much protein people consume

I try and not have any problems with police.
Therefore I dont do stupid sh!t that would warrant the police being called on me.
ie. committing forgery, public intoxication, etc.
It's really that simple. Obviously what the officers did was wrong, but had the guy not been committing a crime the officers never would have been involved in the first place.
The more you know.gif

Forgive my obvious ignorance, but is this something specific to the MN department? Again, I don't know what I don't know, but I thought police we're trained to kneel on the shoulder blades/upper back rather than the neck? Does it vary depending on the department?

I mean, I get it. But that's a pretty black and white perspective, not accounting for any socioeconomic factors.

When I moved to Atlanta that is exactly what they were doing. No knock raiding the wrong apartment murdering grandma and planting drops to try to cover it up srs
Well, they are probably still doing it, but, they were getting caught doing it when I moved here
Stick to asking how much protein people consume
You mad I also know way more about this than you?
Should I link the news article where the police department plainly states no weapons at all two days before you tell us we don't know if he had a weapon?

Not going to lie, I wear Bears apparel all the time and everybody immediately ask if I'm a Cubs fan lol. One girl at the Burger King drive thru said "Nice hat, I'm a "Colts" fan too" lolololol

Nah man, its just basic self accountability. Dont bring unnecessary problems onto yourself by doing unnecessary stupid things.

Again, I get where you're coming from, but I think it's a lot easier for people in good economic/social conditions to say something like that. Not making excuses for anyone, just highlighting nuance.
But yes, ultimately people need to take accountability for their actions.

Speaking of, anybody see the counterfeit bill(s) or the source of the call/complaint about it?

On a positive note
This is what pig should look like
Ditch the skillet, baking sheet at 400* (or a bit higher) for ~15 minutes depending on thickness of the slices
Perfection

Then I realized the cop was out of his car and I thought I was going to be the one getting tased. lmao
Ended up talking to him for a moment, and he was one of the most respectful officers I've ever dealt with.

A lot of that came from cops having used batons to choke people out and crushing wind pipes.
I can only assume, which might be wrong, that their training would be similar; they do have a Police Academy, and unless they are way behind on their Use of Force policy it should not be common. Given the officer who was doing it had a lot of time in he might have been around when it was OK to do, but POST certification is usually required to be renewed annually. This includes updated Use of Force training.
I know that every time there is a change in our Use of Force policy they make sure everyone gets trained, and it is documented, before the change even takes effect.
