Some noobs in a thread on the misc are saying that deadlifts dont hit all of your back muscles and that bodybuilding movements are superior. Bunch of fuking idiots. I bet they don't lift at all.
-
So, I'm starting my journey back to powerlifting next week. Fuk waiting until june. My goals are to obtain a 500lb deadlift and a 300lb paused bench weighing up to a max of 185lbs within the next year.
I have powerlifted and have competed before, which was a long time ago. So, I have experienced all of this once already.
I posted a lot here back then with a different account, mitsuomi. With that said, a lot of you should recognize me now.
The whole bodybuilding lifestyle is not satisfying me mentally. But, powerlifting will. I've always loved lifting heavy with the big 3. So, I will be making my comeback.
I know I have said this before. But, I'm serious this time. I have all the equipment I need; belt, chalk, deadlift shoes, deadlift socks.
So, I'm finally ready to do this again and get down to business.
I'll post my progress so I can prove to you and everyone else that I'm truly pursuing this.
I know I've said this time and time again. I was truly scared to get back into powerlifting back then because of my previous injuries. But, I've had thought it over quite a bit: how to work around my injuries. Now, I know how to progress in strength without injuring myself again.
Also, I've realized that I need to change myself and my life. **** being scared! I want to powerlift again for real this time as I now know how to approach my training safely. I need to do this for myself and to have something to look forward to. I want to feel good about myself again. Powerlifting has always meant a lot to me... even after all these years of being stagnant.
Truly I will start my training next week. I have nothing to be scared of anymore. I always thought this sport would lead me into darkness. But, I was fortunately wrong after thinking everything over extensively.
I'm getting back in this sport. Powerlifting was my one and only passion and it still is.

Where can we see this progress? I for one could use some good motivation

There's probably some small back muscles that deadlifts don't really hit. Plus, most of the back muscles are only being used isometrically. I don't know why they have to be mutually exclusive though and why you can't just do deadlifts and bodybuilding movements in 1 workout.

I started a journal in the powerlifting journal section. I'll be logging my training there.
I unfortunately have no video camera. I'll do the best I can.

I think Ed Coan did that. Prevented him from ever getting a good deadlift, and from a big back.

Tomorrow I will be back in the gym, doing my first training session, getting back into powerlifting for the first time in literally a decade. I cant wait to chalk up my hands and grip that bar and RIP the weight off the ground like my life depends on it.
I cant wait to get in there tomorrow night and start my training, making my come back. I'm coming out of retirement and I'm going to show everyone what's up and what I'm capable of.
I'm finally taking action and reigniting my passion for powerlifting. This time I will not back down for whatever is in my way. Whatever lies in front me I will take it in stride.
I will never again let any kind of injury or setback stop me like it did back then. I will persevere through any obstacle or barrier that is in front of me and come out of it stronger than I was before; physically, mentally and spiritually.
It's time to reignite the flame and passion inside of me and show everyone who I truly am, who I'm destined to become.
I am a warrior of the iron... an iron warrior.

whiskey review...
New Riff Distillery is in Covington, KY. They are pretty new and these offerings are sourced. The bourbon is medium. It's fine for sipping but, ,at $40 I feel like you can get a daily sipper with a bit more flavor for the same, if not less, money.
The Rye is good. I'll come back to it again and see what I think
The single barrel is the most flavorful. I would give these 3 a medium. Price in KY was roughly $40 for the bourbon and $50 each for the rye and the single barrel. The single barrel was a store pick.
I also ordered a HIllrock Solrea Aged that was finished in NAPA Cab barrels Not cheap but, damn fine drink of bourbon. If you can swing the C note for the bottle, I highly suggest it
Last, I don't have it yet but, for you Irish whiskey guys, SPot is releasing a Red SPot that is older than the Yellow Spot When it becomes available, I shall get one .
Arian, see you in a few weeks. Anything you want to try?

A true warrior of the whiskey...a whiskey warrior.

I also picked up the twice barreled Knob Creek rye...it's not bad at all. If you are a rye guy, as I am, this is a get. A little pricey but, very tasty.

My lifter was saying whiskey is big in Japan. Is this true and are you excited?
-
The Japanese are why the whiskey boom is happening. Japanese whiskey is not my thing but, I have a Four Roses Super Premium...Ki-rin owns them and has a distillery there and it's the only place you can get it. It is really a great drink of whiskey so, yes I am. I am hoping to pick up a bottle or two of something interesting while there.

Can anyone suggest me how to rehab my shoulder? Tried benching on Tuesday and irritated my delt. I tore my rotator cuff years ago and got surgery to fix it. But, it hasn't been the same since.
I dont know any delt rehab techniques. If anyone can point me in the right direction I would appreciate it.

Did you go through actual rehab with a PT after you got your surgery? If yes, then what exercises did you do then.
Also, have you not benched or done any exercising since you tore it years ago? If you have done other stuff, then what exercises have you done that hasn't irritated it?
-
what assistance lifts have made your bench go up?!! I know strong tris help buts its a lot rear delts back leg drive etc
-
perhaps a layout of your training would help?
-
I've always found my bench does well with multiple sets of 2-5, none super hard. Always liked pause benches and close grips for assistance, but I pretty much suck at lifting.

You guys like drama right? I guess there was some drama at battle of the bay 5 in Florida over the weekend. Attempts being lowered after openers. Getting disqualified after the meet was over for talking about favoritism. Disqualified lifters team now looses and local team wins.

More info in his IG stories.
Seems like USPA Florida isn't doing too hot right now.

that really happened?
I saw his lifts, looked fine to me but, I'm White Light Wade, so...
He talked chit and got a dq? is that a rule?

Honestly I dont remember what I did in PT since it was about 8 years ago.
I haven't benched in 3 years up until last Tuesday. But, I was 260lbs when I benched. Lost 90lbs since. I guess all the fat kept my shoulder safe, like padding.
So, I'd like to get a few pointers on how to rehab shoulder if anyone can point me in the right direction?

Yeah, I think he went 6/9 or something, but then after the meet was dq'ed. I don't think its a rule and that was part of his problem with it. Also with his dq, his team lost the team event. And it sounds like the judge that dq'ed him ended up being a coach, or somehow affiliated with, the team that ended up winning.
He was probably being an ass, but his other complaint was the fact that a person on the opposing team was able to take a 2nd lower than their opener.

Now that both sides are out, Charlie really looks like a fool. He definitely had reasons to be upset, but from these comments it looks like he handled it like a child.

Ya his whole going on a moral crusade thing seemed a bit over the top and suspect to me from the start. Always 2 sides to every story.

When I bench, my left arm drops lower than my right. I’d post a video on here but idk how to upload it onto here from my phone.
Anyone ever have that issue? It’s not a strength issue because it goes away when I lift 95%+ of my max.
It’s worse with 135 than with 225. Very weird.
Would love some advice

This troll would have been much better about 5 years ago when people actually read the board.

Are there any active online forums/communities for powerlifting still around? Looks like these forums have really slowed down. I check powerlifting watch once in a while but that site has been doing down hill for years.
Seems like forums in general are dying off. How about reddit powerlifting? Or is everybody just an instagram whore nowadays.
