F***ing no-shows lately. Seems to be at an all time high.

I get dozens per week. The younger generation is the worst. They're big on conflict avoidance and low on manners.

I am seeing something similar on the buying end when responding to ads.
I am responding to a lot of ads with no response back. I include a call back phone number when I respond to an ad, which normally results in a good response rate. Not lately though. And the ad stays up. And I am not getting the fishing/spam with my phone number like when I place CL ads.
I did have one guy reply that another buyer was ahead of me. I told him if the sale doesn't happen, I will buy. Crickets. That was over a week ago and the ad is still up.

Someone listed some equipment in two adds on FB marketplace. No reply to any inquiries to both ads which are still up.
I had some weight plates I was selling. Very good condition and very good price. Got alot of hits, I just take them in order. A few right off the bat you can tell are spam.
Finally sold them yesterday, but not after getting three no-shows in a row. Must be the new norm I guess. I usually have good luck selling gym equipment.

crazy makes no sense. its almost as though they don't really care if they sell. why bother posting at all. I always respond to everyone that I get replies from, even after they are sold I tell them they are no longer available. It pays off, I have had a few repeat buyers that appreciated and remembered the little added effort. Some become a bit obsessive and keep emailing to see if I have anymore stuff to sell.

This is exactly what recently happened to me (and has happened before), with the most recent occurrence this past week I told the person I definitely want the piece of equipment and am willing to put a deposit down since I was a little over two hours away. Exchange about 3 texts regarding logistics, then ask for availability on a certain day and get no response, but clear indicator that the message I sent was read. Decency and consideration sold separately.
