i mean, they're great condition commercial adjustable benches that aren't in production anymore with great reviews online. i don't think it's a stretch to think he'll find a buyer, given that $300 is a pretty good price for the average great condition used commercial benches, as a rule of thumb.

Relax Dom. Didnt mean to trigger you. Did I really say something so out of line? "theres a sucker born every minute." Take a deep breath and chill. I was taking the advice you provided and saying that its good to know since I do actually own this bench (different color though.)
Our viewpoint on the price is skewed based on prior experiences, many have been lucky enough to steal one for $100-$200, while others have never even seen one on CL . The price isn't completely outrageous given the 5435's reputation and their condition, OSU knows what he is doing and I'm sure if someone tossed out an offer he would probably drop to $350. Which is dangerous to think about because I fully believe it's worth that, so I'm going to stop there and mention how happy I am with the AB-3100!!!

I am not angry, just making an observation. I appreciate that you agree with me, but my line about the value doesn't mean anyone who's willing to pay that price is a sucker. it's unlikely that someone will be able to buy at that price and flip for a profit, but if they're not interested in selling it, then $420 isn't unreasonable. there are people who spend over twice as much on brand new benches.
I was just pointing out something i noticed: that you will use just about every opportunity to say something negative, even when it's not warranted.

Yeah, it seems as though some people think if something is priced higher than the lowest price they've seen it for it's a rip off. I've never seen a Cybex bench come up for sale within 4 hours of me, so I'd almost certainly have to be willing to pay a premium to obtain one from anybody who knows what they have. That's how free markets work, and that's OK.

[/QUOTE] I missed out on an airdyne for $25 at a church yard sale once. Was in awesome shape. Couple months later I bought same model/color one for $125 and was fine paying that much. Still wondering if the airdyne would have fit in my corolla if I could have purchased it. I would have made it fit for that price.

Of course...that goes without saying. I sell certain items over and over on craigslist. Sometimes they will sit for weeks...other times they will all sell in a few days. Just depends whos looking for what at that given time. One of the few reasons I almost never lower my price (as long as its already cheaper than everyone else selling same item.) If its fair and you can play the waiting game...someone will buy it...or if its unique and people are desperate...they will pay up.

I have a Chevy Cruze. I think it is bigger on the inside than the outside.
I've carried several Airdynes in my back seat - one at a time. I removed the pins for the arm handles so that the arms swivel down. I unbolted the rods holding the display so that the display would not stick up above the fan. I removed the seat and seat post. The bike then slides in the back seat with just a little room to spare.

had i not found my 5435 a few weeks ago, id probably be willing to pay $400 for one in really good condition since they have been pretty scarce. I found one for $100. However, the condition wasnt the greatest. this is often the case with a commercial bench that is cheaply priced. I decided to sandblast it, have it powder coated, change the pop pins that were worn out, and change the selector tube. i will probably be into it for $350 when all is said and done, and im ok with that. considering how rarely they come up in the Chicago market, id be confident that i could ask , and get $400 for it.

I'm looking to piece together a home gym on a limited budget.
I already have 310lbs worth of plates and a bar that I picked up for $125, but am in need of a bench (preferably FID bench) to get started. I will eventually get a rack or half rack for squats, but all in due time.
Saw these 2 ads...a $50 bodysmith by parabody and a $35 BMI Olympic bench. I
think the $50 bench is in better shape...but the $35 seems alright as well. The poster of the $35 bench says it does not incline...but I believe he's mistaken on that, as the bench is not one flat, solid piece, but is a 2 piece like the parabody.
Which do you recommend?

because if it is you don't want them. you want a power rack with a separate bench. depending on how limited your budget is, you may have to be patient on craigslist to find what you need used. you can look at the cheapo thread sticky to get started. lately your best bet on a stand alone bench is go with with a flat one, or the REP ab-3100 is good for a 0-90 bench.

Buy the weights first - plenty of lifts off the floor. Then a rack to do squats. Then a bench.
someone in the Chicagoland area should jump on these. 2+ hours each way for me or I would. It looks like it may be the whole 120 lb set. Im not sure this seller knows what they are worth. The other items in the ad certainly are not underpriced.
