@za78 I saw that last night and thought about snagging it. My only concern was what if I run into one of the usual titan issues (bent, broken, missing, etc). Do I have any recourse since I bought if on CL?
Also that guy has been listing lots of nice stuff. Has a BWTG hex bar listed for $150 now.
-
Good point on the saving 150, my years in college beat the cheap into me. Sometimes it is tough to buy the top end item when a cheap alternative exists...especially this cheap. Those sandwich j cups alone retail for something like 140 at Fringe.
I saw the hex bar but already have a BWTG hex. I think he is also the guy selling brand new Rogue landmines for 60, a Reflex GHR for 350 and am pretty sure he sold a SS Ivanko for 400 or so last month. Most likely a dealer but my primary issue was the same as yours. He can't verify the fit or finish on the individual parts since he made no attempt to assemble. Of course Titan will not be replacing anything under warranty. So you end up with the risk of buying Titan, multiplied by 2 due to no warranty, but at half the price again. I guess this really comes down to a risk adverseness measure.
Can get the same setup at Rogue for about 1200, from Titan for 600 or this setup for 300. I had already passed on the middle ground in my mind so someone please help me out and buy this Titan setup on C.L. so that I can be free to order from Rogue. ;-)

What are you using now? As someone who initially bought all cheap equipment: understand that in most cases you really do get what you pay for.
will it work? probably. is that enough? you decide.
for me, i ended up wanting far better quality than what i got, though what i got is still setup in my basement and works (lately i only use it for pull ups) fine. but i got sick of the painted safeties (seriously) flaking chips of paint every time i adjusted them. i got sick of the wobble. i got sick of wanting accessories that cost more than what i paid for my rack...
I'd definitely pass on the Titan and wait for better equipment to show up.

I did pass and ordered the R-3BT. Being economical is a good thing. However, utility and value measures do not necessarily peak with the lowest priced item. After reading forum posts since December, I decided that for me the R-3BT would yield the highest joy per dollar spent in the long run.

Titan equipment has it's place. But, you already knew what you wanted and had the $$$ to get it. Wise decision, one that I don't see you ever regretting.

i think some of their non-essential accessories are really priced well, but i wouldn't want to build my gym around their racks or accessories for sure.
and with gym equipment: there's a lot of money saved by buying better the first time around.

That is a nice looking setup,
Just wish they would provide a price within the listing.
Without a price being provided, I just assume this:

Bear Squat Machines on Marketplace (Freemont Ohio), $250-$300 a piece seems like a good deal!

Yes, sold me a EliteFTS 45 hyper on ebay n never revealed or showed in pics big slit entire length on one of the pads. When my driver from IL picked it up in N.J. pads were bubble wrapped so went unnoticed until delivery. Pretty shady if you ask me.

Some decent deals here, I have owned one of these BS Calf machines before and it's a nice unit for $100. The other two I would be more likely inclined to negotiate, I like the leverage squat closer to the $200 range but a strong case could be made for the Powertec as it sit's. Doesn't get much more compact than that for a home gym!

I'm not a fan of the Bodysolid or Powertech squat machines. You can find commercial pieces for $300 - $500 that are a lot nicer.
But, that is a pretty good buy on the other 2 listings, I hadn't ever seen that Powertech leg press before.

Truth. But some of those commercial machines are enormous, I haven't seen very many leg press machines as compact as the P-tech. This picture really put the size into perspective, although it's still bigger than my new homemade belt squat machine (haha). ;)

I was referring to the squat machine, I thought the leg press looked good.

Oh gotcha! Definitely, see my post on the Bear Squat Machine (post 589)
$250-$300 is a pretty good deal for one of those beasts, million times better than the BS I'm sure.

Looking for a little advice on what to sell my hack machine for. It's a Bodysolid and I believe I paid around $900 several years ago.
What would be a fair price I should list this at?
Thx for any help.

I'll give you five dollars and a smack in the mouth.

I've had a bad run with CL lately. Other than the Olympic free weights, which sold in days, nothing is really selling. I've been trying to flip the Ironmaster Super Bench with all accessories and can't get a bite, lol. I'd take less than asking by far, but aimed perhaps too high to start off.
